How does one get banned for life?

As I peruse BHW I often see replies from members who have been banned for life. I really enjoy BHW and have read the restrictions. Do people get warned of their infractions? If so, do people really try to outwit the mods? I guess mine is a rhetorical question but am interested in a veteran response.

I am not a veteran, but from what I have read back in threads, and been referred to yes. You can be issued infractions for name calling, participating in flame wars, breaking any rule especially the #4 rule of the shitlist section. Also, by being blatantly disrespectful to any member, Moderator or regular. Three infractions and you receive a ban.

The Mods are not just ban hammer happy. It's not whack a mole or anything lol. If someone is banned
for life it means they did something as to where the staff feel their not safe to keep around.

Right. The mods have their reasons and they do not need to be questioned. I linked the OP to the rules just to keep him informed.

The reality is that to get banned takes a fair bit of effort, if you just go about your life it's not going to happen.

Disagreement's happen squabbles happen just be the big man and either draw a line under it or walk away.

I sometimes find myself being sarcastic in a way that can undermine people it's not meant that way it's just my sense of humour, I always appologise if it's unwaranted, if it is warranted I just move on. No dramas.

I'm not veteran by a long shot, but a bit of common play is that mods hand out infractions except too many rules are flaunted at a time or say the gravest of the rules are undermined.

About the second question, people would always try to outwit instituted authority. They just have to make a fool of themselves first before they see that's not the best of approaches.
