Hey there,

For the last 3 days my site which has been ranking at position #9 dropped of the top 50 results.

The website is still indexed and there are no messages in the webmaster tools. What could it be???

Algorithmic Penalty.

Do you have blog comment spam linking to your page?
Wiki spam?

Classic example of someone giving a definitive answer when it really could be anything

Is the site new? If yes, it's probably just bouncing around naturally. If no, have you done any excessive linking over the past few days? If you have, it could be bouncing from the added links, or it could have just dropped. Wait a couple of days and see, no one really knows your exact situation and won't be able to give you a good answer unless you give more details.

How do you know it's not just a Dance?

You barely gave any information for anyone to give you a quality answer.

Hold on for a few days before jumping to any conclusions. Also make sure you didnt over do the anchors or lose some backlinks.

This could be anything i would advise looking at webmaster tools see if theres any errors.

Probably a penalty due to a mistake on your part or a Google dance. Examine your site and look for over-optimised content, thin content, over-optimised anchor text and rectify them.

What about that thin content ? i have few articles that are not high quality... Should i delete them?

Matt Cutts spilt coffee on his laptop this morning, things should be back to normal relatively soon ;).

EDIT: @OP Content is king, never cut corners when it comes to that.

But let's say that few thin articles don't rank. WHAT ABOUT THE HIGH QUALITY ONES ??? WHY THE HAVE DROPPED THEIR RANK.?

maybe it's the tracker tool that you use (serpbook disappears rankings by hundreds then the next 1-2 hours, it goes +236 position)

remove the low quality links that are directly connected to the site and make good ones. I had a similar situation and web2.0 with tier 2 worked like a charm. :)

That's what im doing too... Manual web 2.0 with unique human readable content linking to my money site, and then making backlinks to the web 2.0 as tier 2 and making tier 3 to the tier 2 with GSA SER.

Maybe the problem is that for the web 2.0 i'm using only 2 platforms, wordpress and blogger and have around 50 web 2.0 ?

Sounds a bit like Panda, if the majority of your content is relatively thin. It's the reason why article directories don't rank well any more, the mass of low quality content triggers Panda and the whole site tanks, even pulling down the quality stuff. Smaller forums with low user interaction and many threads often suffer from it as well.

Content is really about quality nowadays, better have 10 pages of really decent in-depth content than 500 pages of word soup.

Solution: Noindex for the crappy articles, index for the good ones.

There is no guarantee it's really Panda, but it runs once a month, so testing won't take too long before.

Take it easy, give it some time and see how it goes. One of my website moved from 6 to 24 and im still holding same position from 3 months, now matter how many links i build it stays there :) so some times there is no exact math why it happened and what we should do next ?
