Guys, guys, guys....

I was wondering: How do SEO agencies do their work?
Does it differ a lot from the work that we individuals do?

Do they use special tools?

How do they begin with SEO once a client comes along?

I'd be glad to know more.

Cheers,

IMp

A legitimate "agency" (don't really understand why is it called "agency", its a company) has different teams allocated for different tasks. If done correctly, the work will be a lot higher in quality as it will be regulated by managers and so on.

If a company is just outsourcing work; they are not a marketing company, they are a sales company, dot.

If you truly want to achieve best results you are going to want to form a solid team, train them properly and grow it over time. In my opinion, this is the only way to get medium and large businesses and sign contracts for over 10k/month.

Mix this together with direct advertising, graphic solutions and website design and you have a full digital marketing company. Trust me, you are going to need a lot of workers and a very solid business setup. To that you need to add all of the costs inferred from it (office, taxes, allowance, etc). This is why you won't see a legitimate marketing agency WITH ETHICS charging any less than 1k a month, because it is simply not viable to do it for less (bear i mind I said "legitimate" and ethical, not companies who use automated shit to blast links and send shitty reports to the clients and get workers for $150 a month...)

Anyways, that's just my view and how I work; offering top quality and added value, there is no other way to achieve this unless you have teams of quality workers who deliver quality work.

I plan strategy and do it all my self, though i outsource a bit of data entry to Indian and Philippine Guys.

I know this already but thanks for your answer.
I was more interested in the actual process of doing SEO for a client as an agency.
Which steps do they usually take (not in detail) to get things going?

Its not just so much of a single way process which is followed everytime. This varies according to the client, how was the client obtained and so on.

In regards to the process this would basically be it:
Company gets a lead
Lead is sent to sales team
Sales team warms the lead until lead asks for proposal
In-depth proposal is prepared
Follow up calls/emails and meetings
Closing the deal, signing agreements and so on
Scheduling and preparation, between 5 and 90 days usually, depending on the client's size, requirements and so on.
Once these elements have been prepared, you allocate the tasks based on your schedule to your teams.
Workers follow the tasks, supervisors make sure it all goes well and project manager controls it all.
You will usually get 12+ month contracts, so based on the agreement's lenght then the company will go reporting and analyzing month by month.

Obviously, links are not the only thing offered in these type of deals, you usually include many other elements that will reinforce the marketing campaign. Also, including direct ad campaigns help a lot, specially for those manual reviews.

True SEO agencies have mastered the art of dividing resources among virtual assistants or
employees they hire in house. Most of them do not run special tools you cant find anywhere
else but they know how tiers and backlinks should be built.

Since they deal with ranking websites on the daily basis they know whats coming next better
than anyone when it comes to the big G. I would say that's their best advantage.
