Question about page backlinks and how it can affect main domain site?

Hi, not sure where to put this but I have something that's been on my mind yet no idea how to phrase it to find it on google.

So suppose I have a site and a few of my posts/page gets a bunch of backlinks, just an example.. does each post/page backlinks count towards my main site authority or is it just only that one post/page?

Sorry if i dont make any sense, really need to understand this part.

Inner pages backlinks helps increase the search rankings of the appropriate pages (Max.) and to the Home page (Min.) .

For Ex: Building back-links to the Homepage alone will increase the search rankings of inner pages and vice-versa.
If you wish to increase the domain authority, It is advised to built back-links to your Index page.

Basically if you point backlinks to your main site, your inner pages also get higher SERPs
but definitely should mix it up between inner pages and home page aka the index page?

This is not necessarily because this depends on structure of your website and also keyword factor.

If you want to rank a inner page, you need to build backlinks toward the inner page.

You may mix backlinks up toward home page and also inner pages (which you want to rank).
