Thinking about Moving to Bali :) How's the internet connection ?

Europe has great internet speeds too bad that's all it has.

Long story short it sucks. Slow 'net is the only reason I don't live there now. Ubud is supposed to be OK, but I know multiple IM'ers who tried to live there last year and had to leave b/c it was just too slow. Had a really good time in Costa Rica earlier this year. Not quite the same, but awesome surfing.

I lived in a Villa in Bali and the Wi-Fi speed was about 1 mbps which wasn't too slow for basic web browsing. But I also noticed that it was a bit unstable at times.

What is the rent and cost of living there?

I imagine that this popular picture is from india. Considering the dimension of the country and number of people that takes the train daily , their train system is way more complex and advanced than in a lot of the so called "developed/1st world" countries.

I think the internet speed in Bali has improved quite a bit.
I was there a month ago and most of the places I stayed had very good internet.
