Hi,

My website links are placed in my client site's footer(like designed by ---). Is this affect my site rank?

Also footer link same impact like side wide link?

Thanks

Google gives lower credit value to the Footer links. You can have n number of footer links when it is High PR, relevant & authority website. Otherwise algorithm will trigger and push back your website.

Google loves more when a website refer a link. It doesn't when a website refer a link in its all the pages.
Footer link of a website (which has 1 lakh page) - Creates 1 lakh of back-links. Google hates when those links are irrelevant to the content.

This depends on quality of your client site for ranking your site. And also OBL (outgoing backlink) amount of your client website. If the link is do follow, yes it lets search engines to index your site.

I always post no follow footer back-link on client site.

This "designed by" linking is so common on footers that I'd be shocked if it had any negative effect. Do any of you have evidence that it hurts?

According to my experience contextual links are given more weightage compared to footer or sidebar links. So if you client site is penalised then it may pass penalty to your site as well

I'm not worried about passing any penalty, I'm worried if the constant footer linking leaks valuable PR.

Footer for any website is the least visible place for the visitor. So by placing the link in the footer, the website itself is suggesting google that it is not that important. So it is natural that these links are not considered as important by google and it is worse when such links are on some site with low authority.
If it is the only place where you can get a link, try to make it no follow and just a homepage link instead of sitewide link.

Just take a look at the backlink profile, PR, rankings, and domain authority of any sites in the "wordpress templates", "joomla templates" and "web design" niches and you can see that footer links work.. and work well.

I got too many links from same domain, its not good for site traffic?

If the links is nofollow then it should not have a negative effect on your SEO.

Footer links does not value much like the meta and contextual links. But the links in the low PR sites will affect your site slightly and when your clients sites get penalized it will affect yours probably. Do note that your links are placed in all pages in your clients site as kevinmax said. If all pages have the links it will affect drastically when it is not related to the content.

never faced any problem due to footer links.

According to Google, it is linkspam.

Widely distributed links in the footers or templates of various sites

When I cleaned up mine, I saw a rank increase on my main local services site.

Instead of doing that, just put 1 link at the bottom of the homepage of the site, but not in the footer (the footer is global area).

ANY do-f0llow link will bleed off PR.
