Hi,

I'm looking for a wordpress plugin that does something fairly basic - related posts - but with a twist. Here's what I'm after

1) Related posts functionality. Would be nice if I could limit it by category.
2) Instead of just using the page TITLE as anchor text, it would ROTATE the anchor text based on anchors I entered on that post page. rotating the description would be awesome as well.
3) Being able to use SPINTAX in the "anchors" input area of each post would be added awesomeness.

Anyone have anything like this? I'm sure you guys can see the obvious uses.

XH

This would be an awesome plugin. Haven't come across one that can do 2) and 3). Someone should create this!

I'm already paying for a plugin that tracks post revisions against SERP rankings. You pay for this and we'll trade ;-)

Nobody has anything like this??

I think you need a custom plugin.

Sounds like a cool idea though.
Might be possible to develop and sell to the IM crowd too. ;)

Well, if this article is true: http://www.business2community.com/seo/googles-crawler-now-understands-javascript-mean-0898263

Then you should be able to download any "Related Posts" plugin, and then use some simple jquery to grab your tags or something like that, and use it as the title.

It's not a tidy workaround, but might save you paying a developer for now. Though I'm sure you could get someone who knows their way around "wordpress advanced custom fields" to make something matching your specifications.

YARPP with some small modifications could do all of these.

Update: I've managed to get some similar functionality but not totally. I found a plugin that is basically rotating anchor text via shortcode. So under a "settings" area you would enter a whole bunch of anchors, comma separated and then call it via shortcode like this

[anchorlink1]

That's only half way there. I'm looking for something more specific - POST or PAGE specific. And then I would somehow need to load that shortcode [anchorlink1] into YARBB - but I'm pretty sure you can't load shortcodes into plugins.

This took me literally 10 minutes of tinkering in ModX - not sure why WP has to be so complicated.

What would the need be to rotate titles? Is this to trap more people to the same post if they saw it twice and passed the first time? I see this just making on page seo more of a nuisance

Dont get it.. i need more explanation. yes i think it would help rank your posts/ website. following this thread now!

I'm not wanting to rotate the title. I want to rotate the anchor text in a related posts plug in. The benefit of this would be for a situation like this...

Where can I buy product xyz
Where can you buy product xyz
Where can you purchase product xyz
WHere can I find product xyz

With rotating related blog posts anchors I can have 1 page answering what is essentially the exact same question while at the same time having exact match anchors on my website for all those different keywords linking to that exact page.

Benefits:

1) exact match anchors for all different buying keyword combinations in my site
2) not having 10 different pages for the same question potentially avoiding duplicate content penalty
3) hopefully ranking one page for all these different queries

That's why I'm trying to pull this off.

varied static contextual anchors would be better

I can see exactly where your coming from, that would be such an awesome plugin, also with the added capability to display random anchors random day's need this

Perhaps you could expand on this? Varied static - this phrase is confusing me slightly and each time I think I understand I go back to wondering if I do :-) Interested in this idea would like to hear what you mean.

Sounds good. I will search for one of the plugin that does this or will try and get it build by someone. Will let you know.
