My Bing PPC Journey (First Journey!)

This is my first official journey thread.

Like most of us, i've spent countless hours browsing the forums, reading method after method.

I took action on a YouTube + CB method a good while back, and saw alright results.

Last month, I made $1,300 (Canadian) from one product review on YouTube, and have decided to put all my energy into Bing Ads with this specific product and see if I can make it happen.

I'm going to say this up front:I'm not going to uncover my niche, video, product etc.
Please do not PM me, any questions you have, ask in this thread so everyone can see the answer.

I purchased a macbook air with $1,000 of my earnings from last month (it just came two days ago).
I stay with my girlfriend quite a bit, and I am also a web developer, so I consider this a wise investment to get started.

I will be using the remaining $300 for my first Bing campaign.

Now that i've gotten the back story out of the way, here's what i've done so far:

• Created my Bing Ads account, and activated a $50 voucher I found here: http://tools.seobook.com/ppc-tools/free-ppc-ad-coupons.html (no affiliate obviously)
• I am currently running one campaign, but i'm trying out two methods to start:
  - I have one set of ads that are direct linking to the affiliate offer, using a forwarded and masked domain
  - The other set of ads is pointing to a landing page I built out, in order to build an email list
• My email list is currently at 90 targeted subscribers, on average i've been getting 2-3 sign ups per day
• I've had about 200 clicks from my PPC campaign directly to the affiliate offer but no sales yet, I have been actively finding new keywords and adding them as I go

I will try to update this thread as often as I can, hopefully at least once per day.

Also, i'm looking for any kind of feedback as I go, since this is my first official PPC campaign.

Something i've been wondering myself is, how I can track conversions for the keywords that are direct linking to the affiliate offer page.
One idea i've come up with so far, is to have each of the ads forwarding to a different subdomain of my forwarded domain.

Ie:
keyword1.forwardeddomain.com
keyword2.forwardeddomain.com
etc, etc.

I'm not sure how scalable my YT method is, the product is very niche and the review is a real honest review of the product that I tried myself.

First off congrats on your success. As far as tracking conversions its quite simple and should go like this. Just place the bing conversion pixel within your affiliate tracking system (in this case CB).

Then when a conversion fires, CB will pass that information back to your bing platform.

For bringing organic traffic you have to wait for sometime whereas ppc is the instant way to get traffic AND TARGETTED ONE ALSO!

I'll be making an update this evening, but so far I've had no sales from the direct linking ads.

Ive spent around $18, with average CPC between 0.5 and 0.20, these are rough numbers and will provide more accurate info with the update.

UPDATE #1 - 08/11/14

This is my first official update, if there's any additional info anyone would like to see, just let me know and i'll include it.
Since this is my first journey, i'm sure i'll miss tons of stuff the first few times around.

Since I work a full time job as a web developer (9-5 monday to friday), I will be doing all my updates and tweaking in the evenings.

So, as I mentioned in the first post, I currently have two ad groups.

One of them is pointing to a landing page I setup, in order to build my email list.

The other is direct linking to the affiliate product's landing page, using a masked and forwarded domain.

What i've done today:

• did some research to try to find more keyword possibilities using http://keywordtool.io
• went through current keywords and increased current bid on a few terms which have a high CTR, but were below the first page bid

Todays Stats:

Total clicks from ads: 58
Total clicks direct to offer: 21
Total clicks to landing page: 37
Total email sign-ups via my landing page: 7
Total email subscribers to date: 98
Total spent: $3.31
Total revenue: $0

Total stats:

Total spent: 21.47
Total revenue: $0

I'm really excited to make my first sale through PPC, but as of right now, my game plan is to continue monitoring my keywords / ads, as well as adding new keywords as I discover them.

Can you give anymore information about your strategy with your email list? Are you sending your subscribers informative emails around the niche, or are you simply trying to sell them on the product (or various products in this niche)?

But im confused how you running ads campaign with direct affiliate link or forwarded domain in bing ? they dont allow affiliate links or forwarded domain.

False. Plus bing is more scale-able as you can promote as many products as you want.

Re tracking - OP, look into prosper202. It's fairly straightforward and easy to use.

May I ask the countries you are targeting (if the product is in english)? UK, US, Canada are obvious ones, but many miss out by not including countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Germany etc...where you get equally good conversions for much lesser CPC (due to less competition).

Badly, you should make at least one sales with 100 clicks.

You need to test... test... test... keywords until you find best conversion rate (CR) from the Bing Ads.

Sorry if I missed this, but your YT videos are still earning you money?

I know that YT has became a hassle, but I still find it better than bing ads. YT earns you on autopilot, with PPC you have to still tweak, and the best ROI I could get was 200 - 250 %. So you have given up with CB+YT?

That's where I'm at right now. No sales, but building a list. Trying the same test setup with one ad group direct linked and the other to a few different LP's that redirect to the CB offer after the user subscribes.
