It is that easy. Had my Adsense account since 2006. Don't get me wrong, mistakes happen but rarely
There is a misconception that they just ban people for no reason at all, complete bullshit.

CazuaL is correct. Follow their rules and you will be fine... I have a handful of Adsense accounts that are aged. I've had a few banned but I knew I was going against their TOS and was just banking while the sun shined there.
Anyway, let's not hijack this thread with that kind of commentary and learn from the OP... I'm sure that 99% of us can learn something from his journey.... I know I can.

Thank you for your encouragement. To add to your point, with my own experience, I agree with google doesn't ban people randomly. I have received warnings from adsense during these 10 years, especially when I first started. When autoblog was a big thing. I had auto generated crap and sometimes some borderline adult stuff appear on site. Then I started on making high quality sites and google is here to help, your success is their's success. They make money on every click on your site. Also, being a premium publisher can get away with a lot of things, so that's why I will try to get to that, but it's a long way. Wish me luck.

Adsense positioning is key thats right. Try to get one left top in the content.

Ok time for some update. Earnings are pretty much the same currently. Traffic is steadily increasing.
I am a bit confused about pinterest though, currently I have around 20k impression per day according to pinterest, reach is about 2k. But clicks to website is less than 10. I put links on pictures and description. And my pins are shared by people around 50 repinners currently. Am I missing something? No one clicking the links? Obviously I know recipes type will get much more clicks but this is just too low?
Also I am having some success with google +, one of my posts got liked nearly 200 times and shared 50 + times. But the traffic is not so great.
I have uploaded a lot of articles these few days. I will have 200 by the end of this week. Links building continues, some of my articles get indexed by google really quick, within a few minutes i think. So that's good I guess.
