Google's update is a frustration for SEO

SEO is here to stay and we will stick to it for long time in order to get good number of visitors to our pages and get noticed quickly on search engines. While target of over 60% people who practice SEO is on Google, things might turn to be frustrating (if not frustrating already) due to the way Google changes/update their algorithms every time.

Though, your success rate will be high if you are able to make it to google's first page but the rate of their update can be a big shortage for you if you spend hugely on optimization targeted at google.
Why not give yourself rest of mind and target other giant engines like yahoo, bing, ask and many other search engines that maintain somewhat stable algorithms? If you could get traffic from these other engines then your success is still very sure.

Take your time to do your on page optimization by submitting your site to these other engines, read about their tips and build quality links on high authority sites that can share their reputation with you(probably involve payment). If you are looking to get everything free of charge you might not be getting enough and you will be around for so long without any success story. Try to invest your time and little money on your site and you will be amazed with the outcome of your efforts.

Yes we would update as they do but it's only easy as you said just because you are expert at doing it. Many people need seo but they know nothing about it so, it will be a frustrating efforts to them

That is why we are constantly honing our craft. Imagine what it would be like if everyone could do seo.

Adaptation for survival has been the name of the game since all the animal updates began. That said, I can't imagine myself building a site for Bing or Yahoo. Optimising for Google is far more rewarding regardless of the updates and you can still gain traffic from Bing and Yahoo simultaneously.

If your suggestion was modified a bit to this...

"target keywords with decent search volume in both Google and Bing"

Then it'd be more appealing, but that's just me.
