Do you handle your PBN sites manually or with some software?
Mostly manually. I am looking at Infinite WP as a possible solution.
Ok, I have a question...
If I 301 a domain to a money site, are the backlinks for the 301'd domain supposed to show up as backlinks for the money site? I thought I read a post here where someone said that had happened, but I never saw it when I not only did the 301 at the register level, but also in the cPanel.
In my view the only case you should 301 an expired domain is that it is highly relevant and was never 301'ed before - better if it was never let to expire - i.e.e you picked it up from an auction.
Yeah I have a question you might want to answer.
What are important metrics to you when looking for domain names?
Never spammed and never redirected are at the top of the list. In both these cases the domain will loose it value.
Also domains that have been dropped sometime ago, have been used by others as PBN sites or clearly SEO sites are second preference
Before I look at any technical metrics, I look at
Relevance (If I am building a niche specific network)
Likability (How broad I can link to from this domain - If I am building a general network)
DA / PA of the domain and top 10 links to the site
Good balance of TF & CF
Domain name (does it sound like a legit site)
PR (and if it is justified by the links pointing to it when buying from auction - I dont want to pay for PR if I am going to lose it in the next update. BTW most PR networks sold on BHW lose PR on the next update)
I'd be curious regarding how you manage them all too. I know how I do, but I'm gauging's SEO's interest in a PBN management plugin.
I have a few questions in mind.
1. Do you really need to put on different sets on plugins for each PBN site on your network to cover your footprints?
2. Do you have any alternative to spyderspanker?
3. Is it really bad to keep posting self hosted images on WP on your posts? Do you have to upload the image somewhere else?
4. I would love to see your list of places to catch expired domains, and maybe steps on how to get them spam free etc?
1. Depends on how big your PBN is. Most PBN sites will never pass a manual review, either the same sites are linking to same set of money sites or the links clearly stand out as PBN links. So if one has a small PBN, there are bigger things to worry about. BTW it is really easy to diversify your plugins for wordpress.
2. Block bots from robots.txt file
3. What makes you say so. I don't know anything in this context. Can you
4. Long post and also nothing you cant find with a few simple google queries.
If you are really concerned about spam even after basic sanity checks, buy the domain, build a site on it and see if it indexes. You may have to use the video sitemap trick to get the site indexed. Link to site not owned by you and see how it moves. In most cases link from a penalized domain should not pass penalty to you or anyone. (If someone knows with confidence otherwise, please comment). Also a quick way to check for spammed domains that are free to register is the # of linking root domains - if it has a huge number of LRD, chances are it is been spammed / 301ed in the past or else it would have been picked up by so many others before you.
