BACKGROUND

Hey BHW! I joined the site not too long ago, and I've posted here and there. I've been reading over other people's IM journey threads since I joined, and some of you have found amazing success! Now it's my turn to test the waters and experiment with my own niche website. I haven't done anything related to this before, so I will most definitely make some mistakes along the way. I'm not totally new in the IM world, however. I played around with Twitter for about a year and worked my way up to 80,000 organic followers. I sold the account for $1200.

MY GOAL

Now it's time for something new. I hope to eventually earn $50/day in passive income from the niche site I will be building, and I'm relying on you guys to correct me and keep me motivated along the way.

I have done pretty extensive keyword research, and this is what I've come up with:

KW: 3 words
Searches/mo: 2,900
CPC: $0.73
Difficulty: 25

This keyword should be very easy to rank for, and it has a decent monthly search volume.

I have a pretty good idea of how I will be building the site, as well as my content strategy. I plan to write a main homepage article of about 2,000-3,000 words and have ~15 secondary articles of about 500 words outsourced. I might pay a little extra for quality content, as I want it to be the best it can be.

However, I'm not that familiar with link building. I'm not sure if I'll buy links from BHW members or manually build my own.

I used http://keywordrevealer.com. I'm not sure if this is the same as the KC that Long Tail Pro gives you.

I have a suggestion, may not be the best though .
Home page and a 3000 words article on it? Unless every other word is a magnet, I think that's too many to have on a home page. Break it up into sub articles if you can.

Well, it wouldn't be a huge block of text. It would include images of the different types of product (using my affiliate link for that product) as well as tables, etc. And it would be broken into sections like you mentioned.

UPDATE #1

I've purchased a domain and hosting (month to month for now) from Godaddy and Hostgator. I've heard some not-so-great things about both of these providers, but I haven't experienced any problems with them in the past. My domain is not an EMD and doesn't even contain the entire keyword. I decided to go with something more catchy and brandable.

As far as content goes, I plan to have around 15 articles up before I begin the backlinking process. I'm going to sort of test the territory by ordering some short-ish articles from different sources around BHW. So far, I've ordered one 700 word article.

I've also decided to have my mainpage article be a 1000 word range. It will include subsections that are accompanied by product images that use my Amazon Affiliate link as well as a comparison table showing the majority of the different types of my target keyword (I know...original right?).

Right now, I'm playing around with different WP themes that are optimized the best for Amazon niche sites. I've found a few that I really like, but I am open to your suggestions! Currently, I'm using a nulled theme from a premium themes site. Scandalous! Also, would you suggest integrating Adsense into this project, or should I shy away from that? I've heard that incorporating it might deplete Amazon sales, but I'm not sure.

Thanks man. Haha I've read his thread about 5 times already. It's one of the things that really gave me motivation to start my own niche site journey.

Thanks for the advice. For the top 10 sites on Google for the keyword I am targeting, according to Long Tail Pro, only three include the exact match keyword. All of them have a PA of under 35, and most of them have 0-5 juice page links. So I'm going to press my luck haha.

About adsense. You really shouldn't include it, for two reasons.

The first, is that you don't want people leaving your page by anything other than your affiliate links. That's the real goal here. Of course we know that there will be people who will click away, that's only natural. However, we don't want to encourage them to click away by placing adsense (or any other) ads that might distract them.

The second, is that they can detract from the overall design of your sight. You want your site to be easy to navigate, present your content well, and have nothing to distract the viewer from your affiliate links.

There might be more, but these were the top two from my understanding. Like I said, I'm still at the beginning of this myself, but I'm doing my best to avoid anything that might pull away from my sales. From what I've read the first three months are usually pretty lean, but things start to pick up after that as long as you're consistent with your seo strategy and don't do anything to piss google off.

Do you plan to use some backlinks services here? If yes, did you try any that you can recommend to me?
On my amazon website, I have already a lot of articles, but the trafic is low (around 50 visits per day). In fact, I'm targeting a lot of niches with this website. I'm trying to build an authority website.
