Hello All!

I have no experience with IM, website building, SEO, Niche Marketing, Affiliate Programs... anything. This is my journey thread, which I will post in daily with updates on my progress and stumbling blocks I've hit. This will hopefully serve to attract more experienced members who might offer advice/clarifications, and will also be a place from which future beginners can get some inspiration and also easy help when facing the same obstacles I'm facing and will face.

I'm going to endeavor Meathead1234's Noob Guide. I'm not allowed to post links yet. Noobs reading this, search for " Easy $100 A Day - Perfect For Noobs".



To start I need:

-A niche. I have one in mind. Does is matter if my niche's products are expensive? The products I have in mind within this niche are anywhere from $10-$35.

-A domain name. Easy enough, I'll use namecheap.

-A hosting service. Are they all fine? Is a hosting service the same as a VPS? Should I use one from the marketplace here, or am I better off using something mainstream, like Hostgator, Dreamhost, Bluehost, Linode, etc?

-Wordpress. I've never used it before but am reading up on it and it sounds very very simple for my purposes, ie. use a basic review theme as Meathead1234 did and just fill in some content, for now not worrying about things like keyword density, longchain keywords, etc. I'd love to build an authority site once I've done a few of these smaller sites and have more experience.

-An affiliate program. Figure I'll go the Clickbank route to find products within my niche.

-Link cloaking. Have not researched this, just know that it's necessary and have read snippets about programs that do this for you. Will research more once I get to this step.

-Buzzbundle.

-Go to the forums where my product is mentioned, sign up, and manually make 4-5 valuable posts/day on each forum. Then put my link to my site.

-Tinker, tinker, tinker... today is 7/22/14. On 8/22/14 I want to be making money on a consistent basis from this. $100/day would be incredible, but $50/day would be wonderful too.

Hey man, first off good luck on your journey. Keep updating and gaining knowledge and you will meet your goal. It wont come overnight, so dont expect it to. But work like you want it by tomorrow, and results will flow in fairly quickly. To answer one of your questions:

Hosting is NOT the same as VPS. VPS is usually the option people go with who are going to be generating huge amounts of traffic or huge amounts of backlinks, usually through automatic backlinking through programs like GSA. I am not familiar with meathead's method, so hopefully someone who is will come and tell you if VPS is necessary for what you are trying to do. If you do decide to go with more mainstream like hosting though, I suggest hostwinds. I use them and they have awesome packages and support. Plus, they are ran by a guy on here which is even better. A good way to give back.

I also see you are not going to worry about keyword density. If meatheads method has ANYTHING to do with SEO, not worrying about keyword density is a big mistake. Thats one thing that will make you or break you.
 
Sounds like your of to a good start. Look into a can provider as well in the future once you start growing!
 
You could use vps hosting as well, but that is relatively advanced compared to shared hosting which is what newbies should always be going for. And yeah, have a nice trip to your destination and I hope you get exactly what You had aimed for when you get there!

You shouldn't run into any trouble selling products in that price range. I've advertised products that are $70+ and was able to get quite a few sales.

I know a lot of people have problems with Hostgator (I think that some of the hosts you mentioned are all owned by the same company as Hostgator as well), however I've personally never had any problems with them and my site was getting 10k+ uniques in it's prime.

Cloaking is really easy, I believe there are some websites that will do all of the work for you if you input the desired URL, so don't worry about this too much.
 
Thanks to all who responded and are supporting. Having a forum full of generous smart people makes this journey a lot more palatable.


zsimpson - I appreciate your clarification and advice. Upon further reading about hosting it looks like shared will do just fine. And I'll be glad to support a BHW member! Meathead's method doesn't rely at all on SEO or ranking. It's a lot of manual tedious work. Basically, traffic is funneled to your site via manual forum/blog posting. Finding out where to post via via Buzzbundle light. It's working hard not smart. But I think it's a good place to start as, by the time I'm up and running, I'll have learned a little but about WP/site design, hosting, CB.

A user who is currently doing this method posted on the thread that he's posting 4-5x/day for a few days on niche-related forums in order to establish himself before posting his link. Mods are obviously quick to recognize spam if it's a link from a poster with no other posts.

Once I've got the hang of that stuff, I'll look into ranking for keywords and work on on-site SEO. How often does the Google algorithm update for rankings?

A twist on this method that could potentially work:

If it gets to the point of consistent $100/day returns, then start outsourcing the manual forum/blog posting. Say it takes 3 hours of concerted posting/day. Find someone who can type in colloquial American English and pay them $10-15/hour? It'd cut profits to $50-60/day, but from there this method could be scaled I imagine.

Swordude - Thanks for following, I'll check out your threads as well! Re: CB products, my latest reading says that beginners should focus on selling low gravity products so as not to have to compete with the IM pros. Thanks for the advice and support. Let's do this!

I'm pretty much in the same position as you. I thought about it a lot and picked a niche that wasn't as saturated and it's something I personally have knowledge about. Although this method works very well with saturated niches as well(Someone else is doing this right now in BHW forum).

If you go for shared wordpress hosting don't get it from Hostgator or Godaddy. They are horrible providers, I went with GoDaddy and it was slow as hell. I ended up switching to Site5. I believe bluehost is also a good option.

Good luck with your journey and do try to add some twists to the initial method and make it your own!
 
I think for hosting "Hostwinds" is a good start. It is cheap and if you found any coupons for 50% off lifetime even sweeter. Goodluck on journey.
 
lads im also doing this, hopefully we can all keep each other motivated

I had a site but i wasnt making any sales, so i have started a fresh one . Ive picked my niche and im now writing my articles. Nothing i know about so its proving to be hard work.

Hopefully the payoff will be worth it.

So today... wowie. Very very frustrating but not enough to make me want to quit or slow down or anything. I had about twice as much hair this morning as I do now. Think I pulled it all out!

Had to choose a new niche because mine didn't have the right gravity CB products. No worries. Found 5 affiliates to promote.

Bought a related domain, got set up with hostwinds.. and proceeded to spend the next, oh, 4-5 hours getting nowhere with WP. User friendly my fuck1ng a$$!!!

Kidding, I'm sure that this time next month it'll be a lot closer to second nature. One thing's for sure - you've gotta be patient to do this work. I'm not used to having difficulty learning new skills so I have to keep reminding myself to take it one step at a time. Think I've got an idea for a signature.

Tomorrow I sadly will only have 2-3 hours to spend on this.

Oh and I realized that doing this on a laptop cramps my style big time, so I bought a used monitor and will get cables soon. Also getting a proper desk chair and computer workstation. Doing what I can to set myself up for success.


Are there any spoonfeeding tutorials anyone recommends for WP? Obviously IM-oriented is better but no biggy if not.
 
I realize people have a pretty low opinion on godaddy, but I paid $12 for a year of hosting including a .com domain, and considering I am just learning everything it seemed reasonable.

OP I too was frustrated by the supposedly easy wordpress, but after you spend a little time with it its not quite so daunting, even though there are a million options to customize :p
 
Thanks for the WP encouragement guys, I'm going to keep at it.

In other news, I ordered 10 micro-niche sites. I have some cash floating around and figure that it'll take a few weeks for them to be fully built and for backlink services I'm going to order for them have come through. So call it 20 days. In 20 days I'll have my current site up and running and will have been doing manual SEO-jacking as per meathead1234's method, and then can think about slowly scaling..At the very least the sites will get some age to them and slowly creep up the indexes with regular small investments of backlinking, until I'm ready to devote more attention to them.
