You are completely right. But we live in such a viral society lately where we get bombarded with (horrible)news and entertainment that I can understand it only really hits people when something happens close to home. BTW you have no idea how small Holland is, almost like a big village!

Honestly? If you fly over a war zone, prepare to get blasted out of the sky.
This whole thing only happened because the airline didn't want to add a couple of extra gallons of fuel to evade that airspace.
Plus we have worse things happening...
- People are dropping like flies in the Gaza Strip
- Russia invades the Ukraine to free the poor pro-Russian separatist
- ISIS invading Iraq, raping & executing people left and right
And that's just what the media is covering...

That is understandable, this is such a personal tragedy and yet a PUBLIC media circus.
I understand what you were trying to say, and am sure others do also,
I guess it is a bit like saying
80 innocent children murdered on that flight, RIP to all the children.

RIP to all. It is fucking sad that innocent people who have NOTHING to do with that conflict are dead now.
I have a Malaysian Airline flight next week...I know it has nothing to do with it and normally I don't have to worry, but I also have a bad feeling now.

the carrier are offering refunds for the next few days, check the news release,
but IMHO, statisically now they they are safe
(because everything will be double and triple checked)
even though the spate of bad fortune that has came over Malaysian Airlines over this past few months.
