No bids for Flippa Listing. Why is that? :(

Last week I created a flippa account and put a listing for a domain sale to check how things go.

The domain was an expired one (4 Years Old), and registered by me last week. It has PR 2 and earlier it has been a games site. But actually a very low amount of backlinks. Site is indexed in google and the PR is Real. I checked from various tools to make sure its true and not fake.

The flippa listing I chose is a very basic one which costed me only $9. I wrote a very long description, describing everything that could be done with the domain, and the things I would be gving as bonus.

I mentioned that I'm giving a backlinks package, 3 months domain and furthermore mentioned that the site is registered until next year July.

I thought I would be able to sell it within 2 or 3 days because I have heard many people say flippa is a good place for site flipping.

But it's a week now, and no bids. My starting bid is $5. And 20 more days to go. I'm afraid I won't be able to sell this domain.

As there are so many flippa experts here, I would like to get some advice from them. I don't have any flippa experience before and any help is highly appreciated.

You admit that the site has a very low amount of backlinks - so low that the PR2 showing in the toolbar is actually incorrect maybe? Unless it has some PR backlinks, chances are that PR2 is only showing because Google have not updated the toolbar for a while and behind the scenes it has far less power, maybe as low as a PR0.

That, plus there are lots of domains going via auction (godaddy, snapnames, etc) that are just as good so why risk buying a domain from someone else who may be trying to defraud the buyer? (not that I'm saying you are but it might go through someone's head). Or maybe Flippa is better for actual sites and the people viewing it aren't really SEOs so don't know what they are looking at.

I've never sold via Flippa but these are the issues that might be affecting your success in my opinion.

Why would someone buy your site? It is just a domain you paid $10 and they get nothing with it. No links, no content, no traffic, no earnings...

People tend to buy single world domain or 2-3 letters domain on flippa.Better build a site with this domain,add contents daily,try to monetize it,get plenty of traffic then sell it.I guarantee you it will sell fast.

You have 20 more days to go, pretty long listing though... Wait till the last day.. People who are intersted in the domain will bid in last hours/minutes to go before listing ends....

flippa is not what it was, I was selling on flipa until some fuckers came and ruin it. They where making fake account and bidding on there own listings so it can stay the first page. so I have to give up.

Agreed with others. Selling just domain is not really worth. I bet people want to buy something that has some additional value and can be monetized, get some content or something. You can't really describe how can someone build it. I know I wouldn't buy it.

Flippa auctions generally only have bids in the last 24 hours (not counting high end sites and domains), so you could still sell it, plus you only need a few bids to break even.
However I agree that your best bet is to develop the site and sell it.
