It's 2014, I can't believe pyramid schemes are still as strong as ever.

Yesterday a guy I met a while ago (who actually owns a legit business!!) tried to talk me into signing up under him to one of the most obvious pyramid schemes I've seen in a while.

When you work in this industry, you can spot BS from a mile away, the 'emotive' language, the bullshit explanations of profit 'generation' and the 'power' of referrals..

Man, I was quite shook up afterwards, still haven't decided whether he honestly believed in this bullshit, or he was just trying to scam me..

The bullshit program in question is called W*O*R*L*D V*E*N*T*U*R*E*S and sells subscriptions to a vacation website where you buy discounted hotel rooms/cruises.

I responded to him by saying the work didn't add up - the amount of time and money it would take to drive targeted traffic to this (highly competitive) niche wouldn't warrant the absolutely abysmal commission that this pyramid scheme pays out.. get this - for each sub the user pays $200 one time +$50 a month.. Guess what you make? $100 when you refer FOUR people!!! I mean damn!!

To make it worse, for the 'privilege' of being an affiliate you must pay $100 + $11 per month!

He responded by saying that I just had to get a few of my friends in on it and I'd make good money and that I was thinking about the specifics too much and not the 'bigger picture' LMFAO!! One of the most ridiculous things he said was that normally out of 10 people, 6 will convert.. a 60% conversion rate!! ahaha, lmfao! He also tried to entice me by explaining how there were other 'benefits' such as gaining access to timeshares! Timeshares!! Can you believe it?!

So withstanding that the money is absolutely CRAP and you have to PAY to be an aff (a huge red flag), the last thing I would ever want to do is approach my friends, site them down and pitch the most obvious pyramid scheme to them!

I just had to share this experience, it has left me a bit shook up, I can't believe this guy would actually try and pitch this to me, it's just the most obvious scam piece of shit I have seen in a while. It disgusts me, everything about it is sickening.. The company in questions is actually quite large, with huge profits and is completely legal.. Just shows that if you put enough colorful pictures, nice music and emotive bullshit people will fall for anything..

Dude, don't get me started on this LOL. I have a friend who got really sucked in this stuff doing this with a company called ACN and VEMMA. I know someone who really did make money personally and it is 1 out of 1000000. As soon as someone asks me to go to a "business meeting" where I will learn how to make a lot of money I already know what it is. This is getting more popular than ever at least in my city. I am honestly pretty annoyed at this point on how many times I have been approached to go to a "meeting" where you see 70 people talk about their life and tell you how much money they are making. The end result of the meeting is all 400 people ask you if you paid to be "part of the team" yet. SO sad so sad
 
WOWWWW One of my friends approached me with WORLD VENTURES crap too! I called him out on it, drew him a picture of a pyramid scheme and told him to get lost, never spoken to him again.

I have nothing against MLM (hey everybody gotta make money somehow right) the problem I have is the way they run it. If people were running MLMs like a real business aka get in, sell the products like a real business, there would be more successful people in it. The ones that want to make money like you will manifest themselves, then you teach them how to run a business (selling, promoting products) not recruiting people, then you teach them the same thing: don't look for people just promote your product and the ones that want to make money will come to you. This way you ain't got to bother nobody with the same old pitch and going through the headaches of managing people that don't want to do the hustle.
 
The real fools get taken in by the cash gifting pyramid schemes.
Those are really sick, desperate stupid people get taken to the cleaners.
The sickest thing is that the people that get scammed, continually fall for it and will try the exact same thing again.

Op, the $100 per four referral looks great, i have come across one with $500 per referral, and Minimum withdrawal is $100,000..

This is not scam, this is Hell fire.

Me: Okey, show me your bank statement
They: I dont have to, thats not your bussiness, it really works, join now.
Me: Show me your bank statement and ill bit on that.
They: No i wont show anything, fuck off, stay poor all your life, and make pennies

They just flip off if someone ask for proofs, they dont have any and still try to get you in with all costs

Here some good story for MLM


My mom and dad was into MLM (amway) One of the best products ive used, but MLM sucks.


I know that scheme sucks, and they didnt really earn much on there, yet they lost a ton. Invested in 1 biz with 1 "legit" guy who was making good cash in amway biz, you know, those guys who goes on stage and talks. So they though its cool and invested there few grands, and later on that money just disapeared and i doubt they will get it back. At the time it seemed good 20% Yearly ROI, you know shit happens and im sure people Invested more there and lost.

But here is the thing why it changed my life...

So there, these mentors said and still says to read motivation, bussiness , self-help books to get successful in MLM , and people believe in that and they read, some just read them for fun, or whatever. My mom and dad read them to get successful in that MLM, but they also said for me to read that, and i did, i wasnt in that MLM as i hate just thinking about going out and trying to get people under me and all that pyramid shit. Those books helped me to think better and wider, and got me going , and at same time i found internet and as i know i turned out really well.

Thats the best thing they do in these MLM schemes, they ask people to educate themselfs, and if that info sticks to someone and use it later on, i can guarantee success.
Atm i have small library in house with around 300 books in biz, self-help , motivation and so on.

Only thing i can see possitive in that. Only small part will be successful in the field, really really small

MLM can be legit. Sure there are companies out there that have no intention to pay, but the vast majority of the reputable MLM companies can, will, and do pay out to their distributors. MLM is what it is. It is more attractive to the non internet marketer than affiliate marketing is because the common person doesn't understand affiliate marketing. The common person can understand MLM.

The fact of the matter is a reputable MLM is a good way to do business. Vemma is one of those companies that if you pay the "entrance" fee or whatever you want to call it, you can make a TON of money. Or you could sign up for a nutrition affiliate program and also make a TON of money.

Different strokes for different folks. Does the compensation plan resemble a pyramid? of course...but so does the average 9-5 job. I'll defend MLM till the day I die because it has made me an incredible amount of money. Is it for everyone...of course not.
 
Gullible people + worldwide bad financial status + some snake oil man = MLM.

IMO the saddest thing is that most of these people are too proud to admit they've fucked up. I mean, we've all made bad descisions and investments, right? Then they just keep pouring more money into it, hoping that one day something might become reality - when in fact even the basic math is just against them.
 
I hope you realize that you contradicted yourself by calling it a pyramid scheme and then noting that it's a legal business. The two are not interchangeable. For a MLM to be a pyramid scheme, it has to be proven that the vast majority of its profit comes from referrals rather than product sales. That's a very simplistic explanation, but essentially what's been set forth as precedent when all the large MLM companies have gone to court. Not to try to discredit your argument or anything, but may as well get some actual facts before spouting off some tirade.
 
went to one the other day after asking if it was a pyramid scheme and they said def not - apparently they call it a network, not a pyramid, and they show you how a diagram of a network to prove it isn't a pyramid. A network btw looks like a pyramid lying on it's side :)
