Hi everyone,

Ok, my situation is I've bought a domain name as a "buy now" in the Godaddy Auctions. It's been almost a month with two attempts on contacting the seller to transfer the domain name with no success. I raised a flag with Godaddy Auctions and they tell me that I'm outside the 15 day window to raise a dispute and there is nothing they can do. "Once the 15-day Transaction Assurance period is completed, the window of opportunity to dispute the transaction has closed and we are limited in ways to help."

Has anyone been in this situation before?

How did you pay for it? Through paypal? If so, dispute it for not receiving your goods.

I paid for it via my credit card which is attached to my Godaddy Account.

I have raised a dispute already as stated above with their response being "Once the 15-day Transaction Assurance period is completed, the window of opportunity to dispute the transaction has closed and we are limited in ways to help."

Because I'm outside the 15 day window, Godaddy are basically telling me to F myself with a shitty way of saying "sorry for your loss".

I have looked into this also, and because it's a "debit" card and not a real credit card I can not.

you should be able to get a refund, the guy that would have gotten the payment would not have gotten it because of a non successful transaction. Just call and get a refund, or go to your gd account, click on payments, and click 'refund' on the transaction, then call. Worst case scenario you get in store credit.

Why did you wait a month to deal with this though?

Does the domain have whois privacy? If not, then get the contact details of the owner of the domain and try to contact him directly. If he still don't transfer the domain, neg-SEO it and every other domain he has. Let a scammer get what he deserves.

I have check the who is information and dug into a few things. It seems the domain was registered before I bought it from the auctions "the dates scream dodgy" which is funny because I checked the domain before I clicked the "buy now" button and it was a godaddy splash page. The who is information is all fake. The website is live with Blue Host and I've attempted to email the "admin" from who is plus the email provided on the website, both bounce back.

I've contacted the seller twice with no response. I've open a dispute with Godaddy and they tell me there is nothing they can do about it.

I've done everything I can. This is basically a very expensive lesson I've learnt here.

I was actually wondering if anyone had the same experience and hoe they resolved it, if they resolved it.

I will try that now. I haven't come across this issue before and thought that I had to wait until the "Email Seller" link came up with attempts to contact the seller before opening a dispute. Yeah it's a bit my fault that I didn't read the Terms and Conditions.
I don't understand how Godaddy can seriously say there is nothing they can do though. Seems to me that scamming people is easy if you go though Godaddy.

I don't know what you see, but there is no refund button. Also Godaddy clearly say that the payment goes through automatically after 15 days, so the payment did go through.

btw how much money you transferred for that domain? :(

It's under $100, so not a major loss. It's really the point that Godaddy are shady with all this. I would love to get a refund but I honestly don't see it happening.

Actually, a debit card has the same protection as a credit card for every US bank I've seen. Double check with your bank on that, but to my knowledge you are completely protected on fraudulent charges even with a debit card.
