Need to get updated on 2014 SEO for google.

Hi guys, i was away from the SEO field for quite some time. I guess my question is does guest post still workable? from what i heard from Matt Cutts that all blogs now should be no follow so guest post doesnt give you the backlink.

Do people still do comment on blogs and get backlinks? does it still work?

what is the most effective seo method now?

Some say AMR is dead because of the quality of the links

how does all those tier 2 and tier 3 building work now when the backlink from blogs are no followed?

It really feels like SEO is dying.

Guest blog posting still works, if you don't do it purely for link building purposes. Uniqueness and high-value of your articles are what gets you to rank in the top, among other things of course. Blog commenting also works, if it's manual and not automated. Here again, the comment should be genuine and relevant, bot commenting won't get you far. And even if some blogs do have nofollow links in comments, these are still quite valuable. SEO is still there, it is simply changing its face as any other thing under the sun. It's called evolution.

I suggest you read some updates on the status of SEO and link-building in reputable publications and websites and roam around this forum, you have no idea how much you can learn by just reading other threads and comments.

Guest posting is still viable, just don't go through the more 'visible' suppliers eg MyBlogGuest. Contact blogs yourself or check some of the BST listings here.

For tier2 and 3, look at GSA search engine ranker - the contextual links you can create with it make great tier2 fodder. They have a thread here too.

To get a GSA, you might have to go to Wal-Mart. Only one that really sales a GSA anymore..

You can still get back links from blog comments, but you must find a high PR blog that's related to your niche so you can gain a high quality back link. One more effective method in SEO is writing press release, but then again it must be relevant to the niche and your press release must be "newsworthy".

Guest blogs are still in fashion, Blog Commenting works too, but everything has to be manual and original. Work well on Content.

What is working for me now

- less backlinks
- more contents to websites regularly
- slowly drip social medias to inner pages
- build own PBNs
- no more Tier 2 or 3 backlinks(save alot now)

thanks to google new algo, now SEO is much easier, lesser time spent, lesser money spent

That's the beauty of PBN I create them by buying expiring domains that have strong PA/DA which they themselves have already got backlinks from some other authority sites. So meaning my T1 PBNs have already got instant T2 and T3 the moment I created them.

ahhhh i see. I suppose the main challenge there is finding ones in your niche and buying them before someone else does! Do you use expireddomains d0t net?

@andzon, good question. After many of the recent Google Algorithm updates it is becoming harder and harder to execute effective link building that works. My clients ask me this all the time. I'll do my best to answer your question and point you in the right direction okay? So first of all, google's matt cutts has came out and directly said links are important. They ran a version of their algorithm that didn't incorporate links and he said the quality of the serp results were lower quality, you can watch the video here:

Next, I would suggest using a tool like majestic seo or opensiteexporer.org and taking a look at what your top ranked competitors are doing for link building. I work with a lot of ultra competitive niches which includes lawyers, attorneys, health, gambling, etc and the top players in these niches get links from edu and gov sites.

Guest posting is still an effective link building strategy IMO. People still buy guest posts the only thing is were we get those links from either real site or blog network. Regarding blog comments you can use it for tier - 2 or tier - 3. Be aware of getting huge number of links from blog comments can raise red flag with Google.
