Building a strong twitter following

I must say I am pretty hyped about my first post to the twitter section. Man, my life is boring.. Thought id start the ball rolling in the most generic way possible and ask; How do YOU build your twitter followers?

I have dabbled with Twitter in the past but have recently decided to go balls to the wall and try to build up my numbers. My process at the moment is as basic as following ~200 accounts a day and retweeting/favouriting as many relevant tweets as possible. Progress seems a bit slow so I was wondering if you guys had any tips/tricks/processes that you follow to help build up your numbers?

When you are ranking a site you don't just create backlinks or spam the url of a blank page.

Fortunately the niche I am targeting is one that I have been involved in for quite some time, so providing legit content is relatively straight forward. I guess I am looking for processes that go beyond providing decent content, should such a process exist.

I post generic tweets on generic accounts and follow 1-2k people every day (depending on how many twitter lets me)

I select image tweets from big accounts and set a macro to follow all of those who have RT or Favd

try searching for people in your niche and follow their followers

I hope you are using software to manage 200 tweets a day.

I think you're on the right track, that's the usual way to go, follow/unfollow, after the account is older just go higher with the follows, around 700-800 per day should be safe. Also, do this with several accounts at the same time and use a bot to do it, scaling it up will help a lot !
