I am creating a review website and I want to write a few articles about the product manufacturers and put links to their websites. Would it have some difference in rankings if I want to rank my website higher than their by the same keyword?

If you link to them are you creating a backlink for them and not doing anything for your site?

If you are intended to link to other websites, add nofollow tag to it and don't use your targeted keyword(s) for linking the other websites.

Hey, You can but dont do anything in competitor sites. Just try to get backlink from where your competitor site got backlinks.

I got it. Thank you:)

If you link to an authority site from your blog that is related to your niche, it helps SEO.

Using manufacturers is just fine for this purpose.

As said above, nofollo* the link.

Nofollow link will be a good option. Or you might want to contact the manufacturers saying that you have an article about their products, and see if they are interested in linking to your site too. As Techxan suggeted, links to and from authority sites in your niche will help your SEO. Thus you'll also increase your visibility and grow connections. With time, manufacturers might start coming to you asking for the reviews.

Whilst a nofollow will not pass on your "linkjuice" to the website you link to you will still be giving it away by having an out bound link
