I got an idea to reduce fraud

If you suspect someone will be committing fraud, report that to a mod.

My idea is to act like a honeypot. Rather than blasting that guy right away or call the deal off, report first to a mod.

Keep doing the deal and make your lost small. Pretend like you have no defense against fraud. Give all evidence to the mod.

Once the evidence is obvious, blow things up. Here, a mod knows who is right and who is wrong from the beginning.

Quite often, after the fraud happen, it's the fraudster word against the victim and it's hard to verify which one is the asshole. Also fraudsters often have nothing to lose. We don't know their real names, their account is new and stuff.

With cooperation from mod, the fraudster can give their name to some trusted person and we can destroy his whole life once the fraud is obvious.

Very rarely is it the fraudster word against the victims and Skype logs already prove everything, and then
saying to go ahead and keep doing the deal is the exact opposite of making your loss small

I had a friend that are victims of fraud. He deliberately pretended that he has no recourse and "easy" victim. Basically the plan is to either meet an honest guy and do biz with or hurt the fraudster that fraud him.

After the fraudster doesn't pay he called the fraudster vermin. So he's the one that's suspended. The fraudster get away with $1700. All public evidences, showing that the JV starts a long time ago is erased.

Latter he tried again, encouraging those who did biz with him to post something public first (like deal is done, what's the deal first). Some fraudster refuse to do so already suspicious that something goes wrong. So he sent traffic anyway for a few days so lose is minimal. Only $50 if deals go off. The fraudster complain that he's not sending any traffic and refuse to give evidence. He stop doing biz of course. The fraudster try to badmouth him. All public evidences are erased.

At that time 2-3 of the JVs already work. Some people give good testimonies. However, people think those who give good testimonies are just his friends. Most JV meet fraudsters though.

Then he tried again demanding some small money in front, so he can jot down the fraudster's paypal's email and address if fraudster refuse to pay latter and destroy fraudsters' life. He's the one getting banned for "trying to pull a fast one".

NOT one person lost money because of him yet. Some lost adsense accounts some don't, but that's part of the risk and is stated clearly in front. Some could lost a lot of reputation but only if they commit fraud first. Guess what? BHW often prohibit posting fraudsters' real name and address

Just look at this Death Wish Movie (1974). Imagine, however, if the hero is bad at shooting and the mugger won. Now that's what happened. If there is some cooperation, I can help.

Now we give up on avenging anyone. It's a hopeless fight. Just move on do our things and be careful next time. But yea it sucks.

If a deal sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Mix this "wisdom" up with a refundable way of payment and you're good to go!

The one thing that's really lacking here is a escrow service, but that'd just be a pain in the ass for bhw staff...

If I suspect someone will be committing a fraud(You DO NOT commit fraud, you commit scams), I wouldn't be dealing with that individual at all, I won't make my lost small, I don't make any lost because I will keep my distance from that 'fraudster' as you called it.

So my friend got traffic. He needs to borrow adsense account. Split revenue 70:30. Once the guy get paid, they run away with the money. Most usually "renegotiate" after they got the money and have $2k on their bank. That sort of scam. It was very frustating.

Because we couldn't hit back at fraudster, our employee chose to become our competitors and we lost around $1k per day. So yea, we plan to spend some money for revenge.

Great idea, after you lost money it's now time to lose even more money for revenge. Why don't you just change all your money in $1 bills, surround the scammer's house with them and then just throw a match and let the money burn together with his house.

ive 99% cut out fraud from my products on bhw with a simple method
1 - i dont sell to new members, why?, some will be new, some will returned banned user
2 - i dont sell to low post users with old accounts , if they havnt bought b4 why me now.
3 - i dont sell to account 3/4 yrs old 0-10 posts that suddenly go on a buy spree.

now not all people in those category's are bad people , but 6 yrs on bhw has shown me
its where the majority of scams come from. so i just dont do it. if a user already using my
product refers a person they no, ill bend that rule, other that, its how i roll.
this method may loose the odd sale, but in 6 yrs i think ive had 1/2 scam buys,
if it aint broke - dont fix it -

I think that the best way to keep yourself safe from loosing money is ask your client to pay you over PayPal, you are safe since you got your payment and your client is safe since PayPal has a 45 days policy wherein if the payee complains then the transaction is disputed and both the parties need to furnish proper documents to PP to resolve the issue.

In addition to this - I think if we are dealing with BHW members then our MOD should have a thread where we can verify about someone, a special thread were before working with any BHW member, we would ask the MOD to verify the OP or the person with whom we are going to work (work for or give work ), this thread should not let anyone use fowl languages at all, mods should reply to the query raised, and other members post would be allowed only with proofs, this thread wont allow just to post, you have to upload a proof in some sort like a jpg file or a pdf file to back up what ever a member needs to say either good or bad

so you are suggesting that if you got the feeling that someone will scam you, you wait until he scams you and others and then report?
if u have no evidences you should not report someone just because you got that feeling..... i am sorry but i don't trust your instinct.
if you have proof of someone scamming then don't wait but report it ASAP so he got no chance to scam others also.
if someone looks suspicious, just don't deal with him or talk to him until things are clear.
if something is too good to be true, then it probably it is good.

Okay, I got a proof that somebody "TRIED" to defraud one of my friend. Actually some money already lost, around $60. Basically the fraudster try to defraud thousands but get caught in one of the early warning alarm.

The thing is the fraudster is far more capable to convince everyone than my friend. So I will tell a few person that ask about it via pm to see where the misunderstanding goes. If it works, we'll make the evidence public. Trying to put the evidence public too quickly do not help last time. Some mod just delete all evidence saying that it's inconclusive or something.
