Hello everyone,
I have read a lot of useful topics on this forum, but have encountered a problem myself to which i cannot find an answer.

My home page is ranking good on a certain keyword, because I used it as the lading page for that keyword. But now, I want to get rid of that. I want my homepage to be general, and not focussing on one certain keyword/service. So I have created a new landing page focussing on the same keywords as my home page.
This new landing page does not rank. I cannot even find it on those keywords in google, though it "should" rank well. It is indexed because I can find it by using "site:".
It has been about a month.

I have made a new landing page for new keywords, about 2 weeks ago. Same method, same style, just some different texts. This one is ranking just fine, will take some time.

So my question is: How can I get google to rank my landing page and preferably rank it over my home page?
Thanks in advance. If you need more info let me know.

Let me rephrase:
Why doesn't Google rank my landingpage (besides or instead of my homepage)?

Well, it's simple.

SEO takes time to show result.

And whichever page you want to rank should be optimized for the keywords it doesnt matter what the domain name is.

Also, the page that receives more quality links is going to be ranked here.

If you don't want your home page to rank for a particular keyword than your inner page then focus your
SEO links on the inner page for your keywords and not the home page.

Your onpage seo should be great, though not overoptimized + more quality links on your landing page and it will rank.

Thanks for the replies. So I should create more links to the landing page.
But will the homepage disappear for that keyword? Or can they both rank for that keyword? Because if one will disappear, I should remove keywords from my homepage so the other one will replace the homepage?
