5 weeks since launch -- Page 7 still!!!! - Dance or penalty?

launched site 5 weeks ago using exact match KW domain.ORG, previous domain owned by someone 2 years ago. Onsite SEO should be good... Some preexisting links were created for the domain from old owner... i have checked them with monitorbacklinks and they dont look spammy. its a local roofing niche, seems competitive. I've ranked .ORG for this niche before different location. Hosted with hostgator. Got 25 local local biz dir. links so far. I havent yet verified gplaces, bog local, yahoo local... Why are the organic rankings still so shitty. Hmmmmmmmmm.

yes have done 25 directory listings. ALSO... I have set up address and phone number.

Seems like you are not doing SEO properly. You really need high PR backlinks.

hmmm. well for offsite seo i got listigns for yelp, supermedia, etc... all the biggies... did keyword density onsite for main kw. renamed images for kw, alt tags, etc... interlinked pages in content. what am i missing or is google broken for some search queries/ its like nothing is moving... I've ranked plenty local pages the same way... by high PR backlinks like what? .edu? WTF?

Backlinks the holy grail? Using monitorbacklinks... none of my backlinks are showing from directories... In monitorbacklinks it shows i got 8 backlinks total... 2 backlinks that are 302 moved temporarily, 4 are nofollow, 2 are ok,. so i guess Google is only counting 2 backlinks? Fudgeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

You dont need directory links its 2014 Go get some PBN backlinks or try using sape (Risky).

OK, I should say this is a local seo site. ideally i want to rank well on Gplaces. All i've read says that lcoal directory listings that pull rieviews are important... judysbook, insiderpages, etc...

Didn't .org domains were created for non-profit organizations?
Why don't use a .contractors or .construction if your business is in roofing,
because after all Google will keep changing their algorithm and playing by the rules is the best way to win

Probably you need more backlinks (quality), just because you have some backlinks, doesn't mean you can utilize them. Check your main competitors backlinks, how many, page rank, etc. Then try to replicate the same diversity you competition has and you should see major results in a month or two

If you do local SEO, you should know that if you search roofing washington for example you will get many competition not only from the local business site but also from big directory site such as superpages, yelp and even manta. and as far as I search with those kind of terms .org is rarely comes up.

sorry to say but that's not seo, directories might not even have approved your listing and they're not what they used to be, you need in content links like some good blog posts from good sites.

How is that not SEO? These types of links should be essential when building out a local SEO campaign.

Do you think that maybe your keyword density is probably too high? One way to check this is to see if you are ranking decently for other keywords and not your targeted keyword. If that is the case, what I would do is drastically reduce the keywords in my content and monitor the ranking for one week. If you see your rankings climb, and you have done no link building in that much time, then your issue is your keywords density. You can then look at optimizing this further.

Threads like this always crack me up as you always get the guys in it saying you're doing SEO wrong... need better links.. need more links.. blah blah blah... 5 weeks? I never expect a site to start ranking well (other than the initial "favor" google often does for a few days) for 3-4 months. Unless you of course go blackhat and blast it or use other "tricks". Regardless, you're not the only one seeing this sort of thing, here's another recent thread.. Ignore the morons in it.

I am not saying they shouldn't be done, but all he's done is submit his site to 25 directories(most of which will take a long time to review/approve the listing) and he's wondering why his rankings didn't grow. He needs more relevant and high quality links
