hostgator baby plan - unlimited websites

am a newbie who just signed up for a 3 year baby plan with hg (paid $200 after 30% off).

and then realized that 'unlimited domains' actually live off the main domain and come with only one cpanel and also read about reseller accounts.

1) assuming that i'd like to host 'unlimited' amounts of amazon sites, adsense sites, offline marketing sites, clickbank sites - all using wordpress, is that okay? (in terms of traffic limit, transferability, organisation etc)

2) do i need one cpanel for each site?

Basically, what's the best way to host many sites?

No that should be fine. You can host an "unlimited" number of domains with CPanel. Just be sure that you're not over using the resources, otherwise they will ask you to upgrade.

1. It really depends on how many sites you're planning to put on that same plan... And how many resources the Wordpress installs are going to take.
2. No, one CPanel can do for all of them.

If you really are into hosting a lot of sites, maybe look into a VPS or Dedicated? These days, yes they might be a bit more expensive, but the difference isn't enormous anymore. If you need more help, don't hesitate asking!

you don't need different cPanel for each site, since you are not selling it to anyone else.

But you should not host all your sites in one account.

From a risk management perspective, there is no firewall. Assuming you're doing BH seo, you don't want all your eggs in one basket, ready to be discovered by a hungry crocodile... at least spread them out a little

Hosting all your sites on a single account is fine when you're starting out. Since you've already shelled out $200 for hosting I would suggest getting another hosting account after you've earned back at least that much (should be doable with just a couple of sites).

Hostgator sucks big time, ppl are running away from them since they where sold... We had 6 websites on baby plan & they are suspending us almost non stop for resources overuse. Funny, they recommend us to use 3-5 plugins only instead of 20+. So we just moved to WebCrock with Litespeed servers - completely different story. I recommend - requst refund, read hosting reviews & move to something more reliable. Or follow their wishes & buy dedicated server from them

yes i think that is completely fine.
just make sure you use a caching plugin like wp super cache. this will help to keep the CPU resources as low as possible. this is important because without a similar cache plugin the server load gets slammed as the mysql database is tapped each time.

the other thing you can do to keep them happy is incorporate a CDN. something like amazon cloud front. this will also lower your usage and its heaps cheap.

when you are starting out there is no issue in keeping it all under one account.

personally i like to sign up with various web hosting companies as a reseller. i guess its a bad habit. i prefer to have a separate cpanel for each site. its just something I've always done.

well i don't suggest hostgator or justhost for hosting. their support sucks big time. When you see that you can host unlimited domains and have unlimited space in your shared hosting you should never forget that they limit the number of file count. When your file count reaches above the limit you are screwed big time !!!
