It's slow, but if privacy is your only concern you could try TOR.

For regular browsing try Hotspot shield, TOR, Cyber Ghost, HMA, etc.. Or you could just use some "anonymous" type of sites on the internet for your purpose.

You could try buying a proxy and insert it inside your browser. It does work quite well.

There are still many free vpns that work fine but if you need for specific country like China than could be problem with free VPN.. Though you can try Tunnelbear, Unblock-Us, Securitykiss, GetUKVPN etc.. TOR and Zenmate Chrome Extension also work good... otherwise you can check out bestvpnservice.com for more China VPN suggestions both free and paid

I am using free version of Securitykiss and it works just great.
