How to prevent competitors from seeing your back links?

I installed spyder spanker for my PBN sites and didn't do it for my main sites. I realise that my main sites can show all PBN linking to it and i do not want that to happen.


1. Either i block out human visitors on my PBNs
2. I block these bots but if someone were to spam my domain, i wouldn't know

Any solutions please?

If spiders are not able to crawl your PBN sites, how will they get to know the links.

You seem to be thinking backwards. IMHO you have already covered your bases.

If you block spiders on your PBN, they won't be registering your links and hence your competition would not see links from your PBN.

@crusher i do not want to stop the bad bots on my main sites. For my PBN, i already block out the bad bots

I just do not know what i can do to prevent the bad bots from indexing my main sites

rayee, not all the bots respect the rules , one solution is to scrape all known user agents and disallow access from accessing your website throught you htaccess file.

And you are not 100% sure that your links won't show up because some bots use , normal useragents just like a normal visitor.

i think this is still not a good idea ! even the best backlink analyzer took won't be able to find out 50% of you backlinks !!!

In deed but it's enought for some douch*b*gs to file a spam report with all half of your PBN .

If you blocked 3rd party backlink checkers, you won't be able to use those tools to check if your money site is spammed or neg seo'ed.


Do you use Webmaster Tools on that site? That would show links if the bot wasn't blocked, but I think it's pretty slow at recording them.


Unless you use your plugin on your money site or edit the htaccess file, you won't be able to block your competitors' spying eyes.


IMO, the only real solution you'd have is to watch your rankings. In you think you were spammed or got neg seo, you might see a change in rankings.


If rankings suffer and you think you are penalized, just take your content and move it to a different domain with your PBN links. You've got a grey/black approach anyway with that PBN and that's more churn and burn and probably won't last forever.

A seller on BHW was saying that its all right if your main site is laden with footprints from your PBN because even if your competitors report, Google will send a warning and will not penalise you. I just have to check with everyone on whether this is the case and if its really true

Also, he's saying that blocking footprint on PBN is sufficient, and the main site, we simply leave it as it is and doesn't matter on whether the PBNs are shown to be linking towards the money sites?

My questions are still unresolved

1. I block almost all countries out except for mine country and a few other first world country region on my PBN site
2. If i do not block out the bad bots like Majest and aHref on my main site (Some people tell me its not necessary), won't competitors see me and then either copy my methods or report me to google?

When google receive a report, they will warn me right?
