It is a good idea to post new articles and build links as long as the links are not spam. Doing this strengthens the blog.
PR and PA/DA will last similar to a normal website.
After a few months most of my own tumblr blogs still hold their PR/PA and I am not usually build new links. PA fluctuates more since there are regular updates and it's easier to influence PA with links.
