Hello everybody.

I'm new here (obviously) and to be quite frank I'm getting a little frustrated by the forum restrictions. I need to legitimately PM someone and I can't do it. And then I saw a WTB post that I wanted to reply to, but I was told that I didn't have a privilege. It didn't say what specific privilege it was and how I could gain it. Do you run into the same problem or has my account been "punished" somehow?

Why do you need to legitimately PM someone?

You are new so there are restrictions in place. Make some decent quality posts and eventually those restrictions will disappear.

Don't be in a rush to PM people.

New accounts have restrictions to prevent people joining with the intention of spamming.

They are temporary and will lift automatically over time and as your post count increases.

I found an offer I like in Marketplace and wanted to contact the OP.

Well it's not just PM. As mentioned earlier, I can't even publicly reply to a WTB thread. Is WTB a special section that requires special privileges?

The rules do have reason behind them - you may be a totally legitimate member, the the rules cover bhw in all eventualities.

So regardless of how they may hinder you as an individual you need to put up with them for the greater good.

Noticed same thing. First it pissed me off pretty hard. But now i kind of understand why it is in place and think it probebly works great to keep the youngsters in place in the period there jumpy.

Stick around, the rules here are fair and meant to keep this place sane. Welcome to BHW!

While it can be frustrating at times, when I took the time to actually think about it... It made sense. So many other forums are filled by spam junk posts and this forum has so little of it. That is because the moderators go through great lengths to ensure quality people only have access to these forums.
