Client bailed mid-project unable to get into contact....is he dead??

I worked for this guy on a project for about 2 months, at the VEEEERY last milestone he disappeared. Hasn't gotten back to me in about a month, actually owes me $500+ dollars. I would be angry, but this guy is an actual internet-active person..very "googleable", and I think something is REAAAALLY wrong. I feel like if he bailed he would have at least stolen the designs or something. It just doesnt make any sense. Any of you ever run into a problem like this?

this happens a lot in this industry i notice, a lot of people disappear for a few weeks and then come back, maybe he has a drug/ alcohol problem and goes on a bender a few weeks at a time

This is only the bazillionth time someone from this forum was owed money and the client bailed. Take your bumps and learn your lesson and for god's sake stop wasting time worrying about the guy that probably just took you.
