image and video websites

Hello fellow blackhatters,

i have asked this question before but unfortunately no one answered it; i hope someone takes some time and respond to it. any help is appreciated!

If you want to rank a website which is about dogs and if people search "dogs" in google, your website will come up. BUT, the home page has nothing but pictures and videos about dogs and no articles, no notes no nothing. so the questions are:

- How can you rank a website that merely uses the word "dog" 4-5 times and just as a note above videos or pictures?

- Ifyou want to website to also show up for people who search for "german shepherd", what should you do?

- I have seen new websites that are like this, use a blog section and they just write articles to keep up their ranking, is that necessary or constant backlinking is just fine?

An example would be istockphotos(dot)com, this website does not have any articles or notes in it. if you want to create a website that shows up for "buy images" what should you do that have the website also show up for "best pictures"

meta tags? lol wtf? search engines don't even bother with meta tags anymore.

you should give up right now if you think you are going to rank one word searches on competitive niches with only pictures and videos. although possible, you won't maintain your position and you are going down the churn and burn path. and even then i don't know very many people that are able to rank on page 1 with no content. lol.

How about alt tags for the pictures.
correctly named image files.
and lastly, maybe modify theme to include some text on homepage?

It's the sheer authority of the site, amazing backlink profile and anchor text bomb (to a certain extent) that makes it to rank for "buy images".

Adobe Reader ranks #1 for "click here".

No like H1, Meta Desc, Alt Image ect and few keywords words set onpage.

you do know even flash based sites rank aswell, there are alot of local business like this low comp basically.
I agree about the high competitive niches 0 chance to rank unless you got a massive link profile.

"Theoretically" if you have such a website with no content, can you keep up the rank with a blog section that point to the main page?

What are your thought on 2-3 line description below image with the keyword in it?
