Confused about Reseller Hosting

How am I suppose to make money as a re-seller if people can buy hosting packages for $3.95 per month from other sources. I'm confused as to why people would buy hosting provided by resellers rather than just buy hosting directly from the original provider.

You set your own prices and packages.
Determine a market that requires hosting, build a package that would be attractive then price accordingly.
Your USP could be cheap hosting or try to add value and offer specialised hosting.

Like others said dont limit your services only to web hosting. You can provide them with website installations and setup and do some basic link building and get some extra money in return.
You can even provide a free domain for bigger packages. There are lots of things you can add. Just visit similar websites to get an idea

no doubt hosting business is competitive but
you can even beat that price
you can offer hosting at 1$ per month
