I need to to know exactly how we earn that CPC amount in adsense...!

Ex. If the keyword "cheap health care plans" & think the CPC is $1.50
so if we earn $1.50 per click....
We MUST rank our site & Google search visitors should come to our site under this keyword?
IS THAT SO?
