Wordpress - 2 themes on one domain

I have a Wordpress site that's working out really well for me and I want to expand the site by starting a new section. The content will obviously be related by topic, but the current theme is for a very specific purpose and doesn't suit the new section I want to make.

I don't want to use a sub-domain I want it to be all on the same domain, however, I need to make use of a second theme. Is there any way to implement two themes on one domain?

Hi there,

Why don't you make your Wordpress install "multisite" (you can find out more on google). Basically multiple websites on the same Wordpress Install. A "network".

Then once you've done that, set it up so that it uses folders for your different sites, thus giving you : yoursite.c0 and yoursite.c0/othertheme (you can make as many as you like)

You then have 2 sites or more (that you can manage from the same wordpress install) and no subdomains are used.

you could install different Wordpress instances or you could use a plugin like this:

There is a plugin for that. However, you rather not get into plugins becuase they have limitations and they can get outdated.

Are you going to expand the site on an URL section? For example:

site: mysite.com
new section: mysite.com/newSection

if that's the case then you can do another wordpress installation under the folder newSection inside that domain. A new WP installation will let you install any new theme.

Awesome that sounds perfect. I've heard of the multisite setup but never really understood its use. Thanks brother I appreciate the input.

Yes exactly. I'm going to look into doing a multisite setup which I'm pretty sure is the same thing you're talking about. Thanks.
