No lack of traffic source in IM. Just find your source. Its a Technic. You have to be subtle to generate your own traffic to be successful.
Social Media is a Massive source of traffic. You can do SEO also. SEO is a length process but you will get huge targeted traffic in very short time from Social media. So i suggest you to use Social media.

AndyDandy, All you know is just hitleap right? Cos I've seen numerous posts from you that says nothing but hitleap. Getting traffic shouldn't be your main concern. Getting targeted traffic that converts is what it matters like click on your adsense ad, getting a new subscriber to your email list, generating a lead for your CPA offer, etc.., There are so many ways to get traffic, but you've to get out the hitleap vortex first.
Edit : I just noticed that you said you don't need real traffic. For what else do you need it for? To increase Alexa rank?

I need it for getting paid per site view. I get paid per view on a site, so It doesn't have to be real traffic.

This. Traffic is literally the root of all profit, nobody has a "foolproof" way of drawing traffic. Either pay for it with advertisements or build it organically.

This is how I drive traffic
Social media- build a twitter and pinterest account
Blog Commenting - I was suprised that I actually got a some views from them even though I was just making backlinks
Slide share - Made a few presentations with my link at the end of it
Youtube - Made a few slide show videos with my link in the description
Ezine articles - get more views on them than click to my site but they are still views
Guest posts - works very well
