Hello all,

I have a good old domain with many backlinks pointing to it and i would like to redirect it to another domain. For now i have both content and a hosting for my old domain but i don't know how to 301 it.

Is it ok to cancel my hosting and simply Forward it from my godaddy control panel to the new domain ? will it pass the link juice to my new domain if i do it this way ?

Thx and i wait for some answers.

Indeed, doing it at the name server level (ie, through your domain control panel on GoDaddy) is the simplest way, and as you pointed out, it means you no longer need hosting.

Here are resources for you to 301 old domain, why don't you Google?

Thank you tony for your answer.

While trying to forward it i also some some things:

Should i choose 301 or 302 redirect ? and what is the difference.

I also have an option to Forward with masking, should i choose this ?

301 redirect will send your link juice, while a 302 redirect will not.

Redirect with masking means that if visitors go to that domain, and it redirects, they will continue to see that domain in their browser address bar rather than the URL of the domain to which they were redirected.
