Are there smart ways to legally implement pictures in posts?

Well title says all basically. I got a Tech blog and I got a hard time getting pictures for my posts.
I did research about this and I feel very anxious about the fact that people could sue me for thousands of dollars for using copyrighted images.
Is there any clever way to get pictures needed for specific objects free of charge? What do you guys do?

You can attribute pictures to their source, the first thing you'd do is list where the photo comes from in the caption. Then you'd simply link to the source material.

The only company I wouldn't mess with would be Getty Images, but even they're allowing you to do that now.

You can just scrape from Google images.
Remember to attribute your sources and include DMCA Policy too.

Well thanks for the reply, however there were a lot of articles saying that even this is illegal. Only time you could use images are when you really need them so you would aply to "fair use". Is this really the case ?

Hey,another question, since there are so many pictures, somebody in other thread say that is almost impossible to find that you are using their photos. What say about that? 10x

When I need pictures I take them from google image search.
After that I do some work on them on photoshop
1. Horizontal Flip
2. Resize a bit
3. Modify light/contrast
4. Modify colors
5. Save .png

DONE. Google can't notice duplicate.

You won't get sued unless you ignore cease and desist requests.

I work on a very simple policy of don't waste your money on lawyers, if I've infringed your copyright on an image tell me and I'll remove it. I have yet to be sued and in fact your average webmaster is just happy to receive credit and a link.

I've never had a google penalty for duplicate images either. Just play fair. Unless of course your going black hat and then well it's international rules nightclub rugby.

Yup, you can Google it. there are lot of free images available.. I heard, penalty is only for the image which is displayed differently in the Google search result from the actually displayed image in the site.

Many people or photo agencies won't care much about low resolution photos. Just make sure you're not using any company logos or trademarked photos. Don't hotlink images. Using offshore hosting would be good idea.

And, I would also strongly advise to include DMCA policy.

I know your looking for free images but trust me , if your post update frequency on your blog is every week or bi-week then buying cheap bulk stock photos (google it) might also save you from legal headache
