Since one of the last google updates, google's going after tumblr, so if you're going to make some juicy cash, and you know google wants all our SEO moneys, then you should stay really low and off the radar with tumblr. I had a bunch of tumblr blogs destroyed that last update.

ya ruriko before i had a theme on tumblr that if you click on the picture it would send you to an other site but that got my accounts banned , the only way i see it now is just posting it on your title so then tumblr cant see that you are directing your traffic else where

From my understanding if you don't completely spam your link you shouldn't have any issue with getting banned. I haven't done this but this is just what I've found while researching this method.

With your tumblr account you would post a picture or whatever linking to your site, people click the link to your site and BAM there you have it you just directed traffic to your website from tumblr

Tumblr will ban you if your MAIN purpose is to profit.

The way you get around that is by only posting 3-4 post a day linking to your website.

But make sure the picture is related to your site or you can get banned for misleading people to click your link.

You are limited to what you can do on tumblr without breaking *too many* rules.

So, you need to try and get the user OFF tumblr and ON to your website. On your website, you can do what you want. Can run what ever ads you want, can use any blackhat tricks etc.

So to anticipate your next question. "how do I do that".
You just offer them something. Set the clickthrough link of the image, or include a watermark whatever.

* Find HD videos at xyz
* FREE access to blah at xyz

whatever. Just get the users OFF tumblr and ONTO yoursite. Then monetise your site
