Just had a call from Algeria

It's pretty popular scam over here, due to my country capital regional code being the same as one of african countries country code.
They use computers to make <1 second calls to random numbers assigned to various cellphone operators, and if you see missed call and call back, you'll be connected to premium line that costs 10$/minute.

Just ignore that call, for your's wallet sake.

Well known scam, so that you call back to a premium number and get heavily charged.

No they don't.
If the scam is you call back to a premium rate number etc, then they just need to start dialing from 0###0000001 through to 0###9999999

If just 1% return the call then they have made $$$$

All auto diallers ive used have and did need data inputted, hence the reason I was curious to where he had sourced my number!

2nd of all if the dialler are you saying would be something that would make a call and then end call after a certain amount of dialler tones. Which again it cant be because there was someone on the end of it speaking and he called me twice! 1st time I didn't answer and 2nd time I answered.

Dude, there are many automated solutions. These can be software, electronic and mechanical.
Look up War Dialing and you might understand it better.
They just dial every number in an area code etc
