Virtual phone/PBX system recommendations

I am looking for recommendations on virtual PBX systems. My partner and I would like one main phone line and 800 number which can be forwarded to our cell phones.

Since we are using this for offline marketing, we are really concerned about call quality. However, we would like to flexibility of a virtual PBX, since we work out of our homes a traditional land line is not viable in meeting our needs.

We have seriously considering 8x8, phone and grasshopper.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with virtual phone systems that you would recommend or stay away from.

Interesting thread. I would have loved to see more replies.

I'm trying Open VBX at the moment, it's built on Twilio and it seems to be working well but I haven't tested it enough.

Happy Vonage customer here, although I am based in the UK (and jointly Finland almost half the time) so I am not sure of their US capabilities, but that's where they're originally from so I would assume they're great there as well.

I just plug in the Vonage box to internet wherever I am, connect the phone to it and bam. Also has a mobile app and doesn't cost too much either. Quality has been excellent for me as well.

Forgot to mention, I am looking for a US provider.

I used to work in telecoms for big companies, I would suggest seeking local telephone pbx suppliers, and chatting to them on the phone, if they can offer something close to what you want, then meet up with them, and find out what they have to offer.

These guys work in the business every day and are the experts, take the info and then you are more experienced yourself.

You can then source a cheaper option, or go with the guy who helped you.
