I think the guy is lying..

I think he's egotistical! and so self absorbed that jealousy and paranoia from having a beautiful girlfriend got the best of him.. I think and have no evidence or even know them but I think she was going to leave him, as she was scared off him.. and that would have hurt is ego..

all this he was crying in court, etc, etc... Yeahh because he knows hes dug himself a grave and ruined his reputation and most of all, is trying to avoid a life sentence!

I feel for Reeva Steenkamp and her family.

Am I the only one not buying into it, as I feel he's trying to manipulate the court..

It's a hard one because in South Africa they teach you to shoot and then ask questions, women don't have to stop at red lights because there is a higher chance they will be dragged out of the car and raped than being hit by another car. On the other hand, he is being portrayed as a trigger-happy egomaniac. I don't think you can trust the media and their portrayal of the case and that is exactly why a jury, if there was one, wouldn't be allowed to listen to the media.

1) So you new there was someone there, wouldn't having a gun in your hand for the intruder to think "ohhh shit"

2) You would have clearly known it was a woman, now what threat really would she have been to you?

3) SHOT HER 4 TIMES! I think if it was an intuder, once would have been enough to disable them from doing damage to you..

I understand what your saying but I think shooting someone 4 times, he would have had to have a glimpse of her to aim the gun...

He lived with the woman and when he saw a glimpse of her and took aim, then 4 times is excessive, sounds to me like he done it with intent.

Cultural differences aside.... If you hear a bump in your bathroom (I think) and your woman, dog, child, mom etc... are unaccounted for I think it would be prudent to just maybe take cover behind something with your weapon aimed at the door and see who comes out before you fire.

It is not like someone is actively trying to bash down your front door.

I feel he is guilty because he seemed to eager to point and fire into a room "not knowing" who was behind the door.

Joking aside though, it's more common sense really.. picture yourself someone in your house and behind a door, now pull your trigger finger 4 times, remember, he would have had full view of her disabled after 1st shot...

While I do have an initial opinion, it is based on only on the media info (i.e. nothing robust and probably distorted). So I really find it not proper to express my few thoughts about it as I am probably either completely wrong or simply right by pure chance.

It's crazy he thinks he can get away with "It went off, but I didn't touch the trigger!" Guns don't just go off by themselves. It's a known thing that dropped guns don't go off unless it was caused by the person trying to catch it while it falls.

Then when I read that he shot her, believing she was an intruder, I just call bull on that. I guess if you're not around someone much, I can maybe understand the confusion. But someone you're dating and dating for over a year? No way. After a few months of barely dating my fiance, I could recognize the hair, the height, the walk, from a mile away. It's hard to believe that, even at a glance, he didn't think at all: "This intruder has the same build AND hair as my girlfriend!"

"I thought she was an intruder. It was an accident; I didn't pull the trigger. But I shot four times." Yeah, TOTALLY innocent. Totally.

Sad to see a life go because of stupid people/circumstances..

Yep... his whole crying and whaling... i think it's not because of what happened... because he now knows that when he goes down, hes doing time with the big boys now whom are heavy weight criminals. Looking at images of him, he doesn't look like someone with a heavy conscience, it looks like this is a mere inconvenience to him.

I think he's trying to work his way out of a life charge and get it to manslaughter.. still not acceptable because the poor girls parents have to live everyday knowing they wont see her again..

imagine yourself if that was your sister or daughter.. I would sure as hell want justice!

But he was dating her over a year! now you telling me, you and your partner know each other... you live with each other...

then you get paranoid thinking intruder, then you pop around and remember, he would have had to take aim! now pull your trigger finger 4 times.. as guns don't just automatically aim ... you telling me it wasn't excessive... even popping your head around and pulling it once would have been a "ohh shit" what have i just done moment!

Well to be honest, if I woke up at night and heard a noise in my bathroom, my first thoughts would be it is my girlfriend or cat. Now as much as I dislike my girlfriend and cat, I would make sure they were both within my sight, therefore knowing that it was not them in my bathroom, before I put several bullets through the door.

These trials are like soap operas to some people. These news networks know that, and capitalize on it. When the Casey Anthony case was on, CNN's HLN network was talking about it, literally 24/7. I watched the "fans" on facebook, they'd get so mad when a commercial would come on during testimony.
