So guys,

My question was basically is it necessary to fill in legitimate whois information?

Could I just fill whatever I like or will this give me problems?

Yes you are required to fill up valid information. They periodically check for invalid information, and if you are caught.. you lose your domain. If you don't want to show your name to everyone, then purchase whois privacy ( many registrars provide privacy for free for the first year).

That question matches well for WF sheeps. I've bought over 100+ domains for blackhat stuff in the past 2 years and none of them has my real whois info.
