I have a site that's about 1.5 months old. Usually when I get Google dance they will drop off completely and come back, or they will move all over the place quickly. The only linkbuilding has been a BHW service that I received on March 26th and was drip fed for 10 days..so maybe it is a dance. The links that I bought should be pretty safe for the site even though they were bought. Web 2.0's, Articles, and Social Boommarks with unique readable content related to my niche.

My 2 main keywords were going between 24-27 and sticking around there for a week or more and for the past 3 days they all of a sudden shot down to 295 and 230 and now hardly any movement. I checked Google Webmaster Tools and there is no messages, and I checked AHREFS and see no new links pointing to the site so don't think it's negative SEO, I also don't see why anyone would target me considering I was on the 3rd page of Google and there were other sites on Page 1 that would be better targets for negative SEO.

I most likely just have to wait it out and see, but wondering if there is anything else I should be looking for? Is it common for this to happen?

Dude, it was less than three weeks since you blasted it and it was drip fed for 10 days. Wait a little more.

Also, site is 1.5 months old. It could be that your "google honeymoon" is over.

Using too much of your keywords as anchor texts can cause your ranking to drop. Check your keyword density.

LOL don't trust this drip feed story.. they add this drip feed because they need more time to handle clients.. so i am 100% sure they build all links with in one or two hour and send you the report like they drip feed

My anchor text is fine.

Keyword mentioned on page for keyword 1.. 5 times in 3400 words and 2nd keyword mentioned 8 times in 3400 words.

I'll just wait though, thanks

Content optimization is fine. Just wait a little longer. :)

Hey, man, you might also be penalized, I suggest you buy an old domain rather than a 1.5 months old if you want to juice it with links.

How many links had been built and how many times had you used your keywords as anchor texts?

Had you diversified your anchor texts using naked url and generic keywords?

@auxiliarus The domain is new, the site has been built for 1.5 months.

My anchors are good. I'm using naked url's, generic keywords, partial match. One of my main keywords is showing as being used 3% of the time as anchor on ahrefs.com, and the other other one is not showing, but they only show so many i think..so keyword 2 is should also be 2% or 3%.

probably a dance, i'll post here again in a few days. The keywords moved up a few spots today, and there is also a couple more links showing in ahrefs.com than yesterday, so i think it's the drip feeding that's doing it. Should stabalize soon.

I'd say wait a little bit longer and see what happens dont act to quickly to your serps.

Hi,
You can use only anchor keywords (oups I've just made some ennemies :p ) and be okay with a fresh website if you make something like 1 link per day. If you didn't do it yourself, you cannot be sure.

Generally, I say not in top30 > don't look at serp variations. But 230... you seems penilized to me. Make only one beautiful link for a "penalised" webpage of your website. Then, wait 1 week, I know it's long, find something else to do. And you'll have your answer (if you didn't move with this new link, you seems penalized, go get a new domain).

Be patient and continue building links, diversify your anchor texts as much as you can.
