Google Adwords Voucher Spam

Is anyone else here getting bombed with Adwords voucher E-mail spam by Google this week? It appears that Google is spamming some old E-mail addresses I have that were once either part of Analytics and/or a Webmaster Tools account. These sites sites have not had any Google garbage on them for years (I disavowed Google a while back).

I'm just curious if Google is pushing these vouchers to old account holders so aggressively because their Adwords user base is shrinking? Might a drop in Adwords users be related to how Google screwed small businesses in organic search? I don't recall ever being bombed with spam from Google on sites that have not been affiliated with any Google product for years.

FWIW, I disavowed Google a long time ago. The way Google shafted small businesses was not cool, and I sure am not going to give them even a dime. I know a couple other BM business owners that feel the same way, and they too are spending their money elsewhere.

The last three spams Google sent today originated from:

Received: from [209.85.219.70]
Received: from [209.85.128.198]
Received: from [209.85.219.71]

Time to add a MX Google block for 209.85.128.0/17. Those idiots at Google have never sent me an E-mail worth reading anyway...

I have gotten some similar spam like that a few weeks ago...

Who knows what they are up to?


I think the drop in Adwords use could be attributed to

more advertising options online now than ever before.



Besides, they not only need to keep the same level of revenue

but increase it to remain the "top dog".


Most of Google's revenue is from advertising.


Keep that in mind....

I have not gotten more spam from Google than normal, but my server is set to discard duplicate emails so I don't see more than one of anything unless I whitelist it.... that said though, I have offered adwords services to my customers for many years, managing as many as 70 campaigns at once for 10% of the budget. Over the last year I have lost about 10 of my regular customers who say adwords is just too expensive now. If that's any indicator, maybe adwords is starting to notice a decline. When companies are paying over $100 for a click in some niches, there simply must be something better for the average business. Even direct mail is becoming a better solution for some companies. I do see a shift in the business.

Over $100 a click is outrageous.


I do think that better alternatives are becoming more visible.


I still use Adwords but if something better shows

promise, I won't have a problem making a switch.
