does (your own) private network really work?

I am having some doubts while setting up my own network. specifically, the question in my mind is: Will it really work?

So far, any seo I have done has been risk free in terms of financial cost. blog comments on high PR, low OBL blogs dont cost anything. GSA posting doesnt cost anything (except the initial fee)....posting articles on wordpress.com and yola.com etc. Doesn't cost anything

I have been spending a lot of money on domains and now I am signing up with different hosts. but the financials are starting to break me. I am starting to have doubts. I keep asking myself "will it really work after I spend all this money?"

If done right it can be the most effective way to dominate in SEO. The problem is, most don't know how to set them up correctly. The number one factor being that people are hindered by their budget. Anyone can throw up a bunch of shit sites with terrible content, same themes etc.. The key is to make the sites look like legitimate websites, not just junk WP sites with shitty content. Just think of the benefits of not only controlling a huge percentage of your backlink profile, but you can also funnel massive amounts of traffic to your money site. It's twofold. Most people think that networks are just for SEO alone. Not true. You can funnel a lot of traffic with networks also.

The first key is to have a website that dosent suck, if its only to make money you already lost the game to people who are really interested and post good unique content in the same niche and share stuff on social media.

Seo in 2014 is far away from 2010, I hear really outdated technique here that are now mostly ignored by google. Good content and good content sharing via social media is the key.

Having loads of website on different host an account cost money and all this effect can be done naturally if you have good content. Your content should be so good that it share naturally, if you force it your already loosing the SEO game and you should review your content not your SEO technique.

I had my doubts too, I was being lazy about writing content for it until I started using Dragon Naturally Speaking (you can get it on ebay for $35). There was some great advice on BHW about going to article directories and paraphrasing the articles with Dragon and make them your own. Takes all the thinking out of it. I can put out five 500-800 word articles in 2 hours with Dragon. My PBN was a useless piece of shit until I added content and then all of a sudden google took notice and my site went from no where to the first page. This was a local keyword with high competition. I did other stuff too, but the PBN was what pushed my site up. It is a small network (4 sites) with related domains, PR 1, DA 33, 400-600 backlinks each (no spammy backlinks). I got hosting on different $1 per month hosting with cpanel (google $1 cpanel). I'm ecstatic with the results.

Why not just rent one to test its effectiveness first? There are about a dozen high PR blog networks in the BST.

You can build your own as soon as you see that these links improve your particular ranking.

You need to have a High DA and PA site with a Very Good Backlink Profile, if you have done these Correctly you'll have a great Network!

it works, and it works best but it does cost pretty much to play it right.

these are some general tips that might help, but seriously with google being stupid as fuck you might just wanna hide your "technical footprints"

You got 4 general choices how to use the domains you buy (new, expired, deleted, whatever)

1. make them micro niche sites (think <1000 searches/m) that funnel traffic to your main site. treated as any other money site you have (content, backlinks, etc) cost $$$/$$
2. make them general/niche specific news/article type of site. cost $$
3. make them static sites which don't require much content (think "Albert Einstein" bio site...) cost $$
4. make them semi-static pure buffers (super strong expired domains, like 10 posts at homepage each to diff money site) ((got a strong competitor who's doing it, he has like 30 sites only and that's pretty much what he use for backlinks. he's ranking about 13 sites with this PBN and making pure bank of the women beauty niche, all of his sites are ranking top 3 for lots of kw's)) cost $$$

The best idea is to have a mix of those obviously, each of them require a certain amount of maintenance (content, links)

I'm pretty sure you know or will read about how to keep it private (hosting,registers,privacy/diff whois,reg date,themes/plugins/cms/static pages,links sources,social accounts <for some>,social signals, etc etc...)
there are dozens of awesome posts about how to keep it private technical speaking, just look it up if you think you don't get it completely.

little tip I use with 3 of my VA's: got one who's writing articles for you? find some expired domain (domain should be a name, like "CarlWarner. com" or something), have your VA writing personal shit on it like a legit blogger. if he's good and interested in it, that would look like the most natural blog you'll have, and your VA will enjoy getting money for writing about stuff he like. (obviously tell him the general niche, but ya even junk posts like "how was my Saturday night family dinner" is good)

Yes they are effective, but I always suggest you build a niche specific blog network around your site, rather than a general blog network. The key is relevance so you want your blog network sites to be closely related to your money site!

Since we are on the topic of PBN i got a question regarding the domains you use. Ive noticed 2 types when looking at domains. One that mentions DA,PA and TF and the other mentioning TF at a fraction of the cost. When building a PBN, is their a massive dip in quality when purchasing domains with little Da/PA but good overall TF and back links?
