Anchor text long Tail or short tail

If I use long tail keyword such as "blackhat website marketing online" would it only give me a boost for "blackhat website marketing online" or would it give me a boost for all keywords in the phrase such as "blackhat website", "marketing online", "Blackhat Marketing", "website marketing", etc...I know this is what you should practice when using on page SEO, but what about inbound anchor text? And does it also depend on the landing page optimization weather it's longtail or shorttail?

I've not tested but read that you'd get credit for keywords such as "blackhat website", "marketing online", etc. Plus, to a lesser degree, "blackhat marketing", "blackhat online", etc.

I imagine for conversions of whatever kind you're looking for, but a page can rank well for a keyword (phrase) that isn't on that particular page. The incoming link anchor text and the origin supposedly have the most influence on that.

in the long run will help you rank for the word cat

Also, google only reads the first 64 (?) or so characters. I'm not 100% sure about the number but it's in that ballpark.

64 characters would be quite a long tag line for a link. I usually don't link with more than 5 keywords. I do find my sweet spot with my sites ranking in the 3-4 keyword length.

And changing up your anchor text on incoming links to reflect other combinations of the same phrase is always good too.
