Hey,

I made a speed reading app that is free to use, and I would like to know how fast the average person can read using it.

If you have a couple seconds to try it out please go to http://doofoodoo.com/ and give it a test.

ATM I am copying and pasting long threads into it form BHW to read them faster, and it works really well for me.

Let me know what you guys think!

I can do 500 words per minute. You :)

I heard CEO sam does 5000 words per minute.

Your so off it's not even funny. CEOSam doesn't need to read. He knows all meaning he reads at infinity words/lifetime.

I like it. With all the information out there these days it is important to read fast

Nice idea. I am struggling at 450.

Good luck with this great app.

It does take some getting used to. Yesterday I could read comfortably at 400 WPM, today I can do around 600. Once you get the hang of it, it works really well.

Already been done.

It has been done, but others do not slow down for punctuation, and long words. Because this one does you can actually understand what you are reading better. I will also be adding more features into this to help train people to read using the app.

Realy nice totally going to bookmark this.
*tip: Do some webdesign so it looks better ;)

It doesn't work on Firefox but it does work on Chrome, check it out. It's really cool BTW :)

thanks for letting me know,

what version of firefox are you using? I have it running on firefox and it is working well.

[EDIT]
Ok, i think i fixed the issue. I had a command in there that only the newer visions of browsers would understand. (a javascript function that takes in one or no arguments in new versions, but needs one in old versions) I just updated it, so hopefully that was the issue.

I also just put in a checkbox to allow you to start slower, and increase speed. If checked it will start at half the speed and get faster as it goes through the text until it reaches the set speed. It helps you get accustomed to it.

I just updated firefox to the latest version (28.0) and it works now! Previously I was using version 27.0.1.

Just a recommendation: It would be sweet if you can add a "pause" option. Consider it :)

Looks great but seems to be a difficult to get used to at first. But I believe it would be a lot more easier and better after one gets used to using it and eventually it will help in increasing his speed of reading online.

Suggestion: You could also try adding an option upload doc and PDF files and read them since both people love reading books in PDF form, that might take a bit of work but would be cool as the app gets more and more popular.

That's a great idea. I will try to implement that this week!

Another great idea. I was actually trying to think of a way to do that/ import a website link to read off of.

Maybe you should try it as an extension for Chrome or Firefox so that I can read sites faster. Also 500 words per minute.
