Hello there,

For those of you not very familiar with PPV (it's not discussed frequently here), PPV is basically advertising through popups / popunders. I ventured into it about two weeks ago and since then, I was basically only losing money. Lost about $100.

I kept praying for a SINGLE conversion just to convince myself that PPV traffic DOES convert, but nothing. I kept at it though. Today, I woke up to a $48 revenue when I had spent $25 yesterday. That's almost 100% ROI! Might be my luck, and there's so much to do with optimization but I'm really excited. I've been making money online for years now but when you start making money from a completely new online venture, you feel like it's your first day at IM!

Anyway so as not to make this thread useless, I'm sharing some tips.

Important PPV Tips!

Okay so I believe what started making me see profit is one MAJOR ADVICE I read, it's so freaking simple but was spot on. I was losing so much money because I was trying to "reinvent the wheel". You know, find PPV targets that no else is bidding on and the like because no one would compete with me and then I was so happy to find super cheap targets that "seemed" they would work. Guess what? That's how I lost my $100.

When you're starting out, STICK TO WHAT WORKS. Copy and TWEAK. Use your favorite PPV spy tool, look at hundreds of landing pages and targets. Yesterday I spent 5 hours inside my PPV spy tool (I dont want to mention names so it doesnt seem I made this whole thread up to promote them) ad I think that's what made the real difference. I started just copying and tweaking or "twisting".

Some other stuff:

- Whoever says you should never direct link CPA offers with PPV is FULL OF SHIT. Sure, might be better to create your own landing page but you're gonna have to test it out. Landing pages add a lot more variables to the equation. If you're new, I'd say start with direct linking short form offers that pay above $5 a lead.

- Your PPV account manager is your best friend. Ask him for demographics (not all provide this), ask him for top traffic targets (most provide them immediately upon request).

- Lose money. Yes, really, you HAVE TO. I was like creating budgets of $5, $10 a day and I was just NOT getting data. Had like 100 targets or so and each target got a handful of impressions and I was so depressed that I got no conversions. You need at least a few hundred impressions from each target to really judge whether you should kill it or continue. $5 and $10 daily budgets just really mess things up for me. Say there is this a target that costs $0.06 per view. But because your budget was $5, say $3 of it went to this target and you got 50 impressions but no conversions. Now you login to the control panel and go like SHIIIIIIIIIIIT this target took most of my $3 and no conversions!! Guess what? Maybe your 100th impression from that target would have been a $10 conversion. For $6 spend you got $10. You're in profit. So give your targets good room to breathe.

- Competition IS GOOOOOOOD. When I tried reinventing the wheel and coming up with my own super targets that no else was bidding on, I was bidding the LOWEST for targets and I thought I'm in for a big treat. Totally the opposite. When you add targets and feel it's a "desert" in there, better get out, at least when you're a newbie.

- DONT OBSESS OVER FIRST RANKING. You're gonna have a lot of competition, some making crazy bids. Don't get into bidding wars as a newbie. Add your targets and set your maximum bids if your platform offers automated bids. Here's how I calculate my maximum bid. When I'm direct linking a lead generation offer, I assume a 1% conversion (maybe that's a lot for popup traffic but the traffic is super targeted so might not be that bad). Say it's a $10 lead gen offer. At 1% conversion it means you make $10 every 100 impressions. This means to BREAK EVEN, the maximum you can pay is $10 for 100 impressions or $0.1. To stay safe I'd take that down a few notches so I'd set my maximum to maybe $0.06 or $0.07 and then go up from there if conversions are good.

This is what I've done to get my first PPV profit, I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes or maybe create a journey thread. I'm by no means a professional yet, this is my first PROFITABLE day but I've learned a lot during all the "loss" days and I'd be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. :)

What network you use and what tools? Just put them here...nobody will think nothing!

Well I didn't want to put them out there unless someone asked, community is a bit aggressive nowadays :D Anyway I'm currently with LeadImpact, I also use magicurlscraper.com (free) for scarping URLs and keywords and box of ads to get an idea about what kind of offers and landing pages to push.

Good to see a PPV case study after so many days because very few people talk abt PPV on this forum...

I dunno why but perhaps because this is primarily a BH SEO forum. I mostly see SEO and maybe PPD discussed. PPV and generally paid traffic is quite underrated here. Personally, I really love PPV and paid traffic because it's "action packed", you instantly see traffic and have to quickly react, optimize, scale or you get your pockets emptied. It's certainly not for everyone though.

I'm trying out some CPM networks and having little success just need a one which works perfect with my paid + regular traffic daily.

Well, it's quite early to tell if the campaign will make you long term money or if there was a lot of luck involved but I'd certainly would like to hear more updates about this. Thanks for the thread!

This is a good case study because you dont see alot of them on BHW. Ive tried once PPV but no success and I gave up because I lost 250$ so I hope you will do better :).

Thanks for sharing this and I hope that you will post here your results every day.

Really nice! Looking forward for more updates from your case study :)

LeadImpact look good but want $1000 uprfont deposit. Any cheaper options? Or does somebody want to promote my British TV broad website with me?

thanks for letting us know that one can profit even by direct linking

regards

I think BigBuddy recommended 50OnRed here before, I think they have a $500 deposit but you'll have to check. Most reputable PPV networks have a rather steep minimum deposit requirements.

If you guys want to stay updated, I've followed up with a journey thread here:
