Hi BHW!

First of all.. Thank you BHW members for sharing awesome information on this amazing forum!

I have searched here on the forum and on the internet for an answer but no results so I thought I might ask you.

I'm quite new to the IM business and recently I backordered two domains that was really good and old. I got the auth code for the domains from the backorder provider and I checked the whois and got this from one of the domains:

created: 2014-01-07
modified: 2014-02-28
expires: 2015-01-07
transferred: 2014-02-19

It says that the domain was created in 2014. When I backordered the domain it said 2010. Shouldn't the creation date be 2010 since I backordered it? Or have I misunderstood the part of keeping the created date while backordering?

I'm really looking forward for your replies!

Best regards,

The domain backorder business is probably as close as it gets to online snake oil

Folks need to realize that no registrar has the power to hold or reserve a domain name. They have no special tools or power that you don't - they just try to be faster.

So when you're backordering, you're creating a false expectation of owning that domain but the probability of it succeeding is minimal. Someone was faster than your registrar and your backorder failed, you probably got a notice about that, check your spam folder.

To get things clear I got the domains that I backordered. But my question is: Shouldn't the domain keep its age? When I backordered it the whois said the domain got created in 2010. And since I backordered the domain it should still say that it got created in 2010? It says 2014 now and that why I'm asking!
