So ive signed up for a domain on godaddy to redirect my affiliate link eveything was fine and ive started posting it, now ive just got this email.

During the login process, our secure site will prompt you to upload a viewable,
scanned copy of the payment method account holder's government-issued photo
identification, such as a driver's license or passport. In the comments box,
we ask that you also provide a brief explanation of how you intend to use the
product(s) purchased. If we do not receive the requested documentation within
the next 48 hours, your order(s) may be cancelled for your protection.

Anyone had this ?? why do they need this.

Thanks

Because you may have another account with them where you are using the same credit card.

No i haven't got another account, i payed via paypal dont think i had any money in paypal account, so took it from my bank account through paypal. Although im out of the country. Could it be that?

are you in the us? this usually happens to people outside of the us.

Godaddy has been abusing this ID thing for over a year now. Their explanation is "because fuck you, we're big and do whatever we want".

Solution: move to namecheap.

Yeah this usually happens if you have another account with them and use similar/but different details on the account or have suspicious looking details. I agree with bart, if you are having issues like this just push everything over to namecheap.

it happened to me when i used the details (address, phone no. and ip) of a different country (where i can use a $0.99 discount coupon) and the payment method as Card which belonged to some other country. i don't think there's any need to worry if you're doing something WH, but if you want total anonymity without giving ur ID, go with namecheap.

Send them what they want. they are a legitimate company. why you are wasting time and putting this thread ?
It is a random security verification every big company can do it. i have an account with them 8years now accessing it from USA and EU without it any problem. Put your real data and info and you are OK!
