You need to be at a point where too many fan pages are popping up of you to justify needing a verify to differentiate the real account.

You need celebrity engagement as well otherwise twitter won't consider you .

Wow! I didn't know about number 1.

As for popularity, I think you'd need to get some serious press. Like invited on major news networks for your accomplishments, and often.

Example A: This person was 17 years old when Yahoo paid ~$30 million for his company. He was on every major news network in UK, USA, Canada...
He is in charge of Yahoo's new News app. He was on Forbes again last week I believe for it.

Meanwhile, not verified. So unless you have some major start up that is going to explode soon or your enrolled in your PhD with some impressive ground breaking research or something, good luck. Besides, it's mostly news reporters who get verified any more. Most celebrities are already verified.

It makes a lot of sense what everyone said.
I have seen people who are not really famous verified. Even artists who aren't popular. It's pretty strange.

It is a bullshit work around...as a way to entice a business to drop $15k on twitter ads...which are worthless. The majority of users are on mobile...

Why do you want to be verified so bad? It is a blue check mark. That is it. I know professional athletes that have 2k followers that are verified. I have a family member in media relations at one of the largest sports franchises...its a simple phone call to get their players the magic blue check mark...and many only have a couple thousand followers...so if you think it will automatically increase your followers it won't.

Got 4 clients with verified badge, basically they are famous at their countries.
As real stuffs I'm offering, it might help a bit. Though none is guaranteed, but it is make sense to get the blue check by this way.

The point is that the people think that followers count in getting verified.

And my "point" was that this band has the least amount of followers for any verified account.

And playing instruments has actually 0 point in the point I was proving. What's your valuable input to the OPs main question on how to get verified?...
